An attorney for Hunter Biden sent a cease-and-desist letter on Thursday to former President Donald Trump's legal team, claiming that Trump's rhetoric on social media and elsewhere "could lead to [Hunter Biden's] or his family’s injury."

Beyond the fact that this is not verified to be an actual text message, but is from an anonymous "whistleblower," there seem to be three issues here. 1) There is zero evidence that Joe Biden knew of the text message which leads us to number 2) there is no evidence Joe Biden received any of the money from this deal, while they know the "Biden Family" (the term used since they can't show Joe received any of the money but can trace it to other Bidens) did get the money. So Joe Biden was allegedly involved and knew all about it but didn't get any of the money?

Number 3, though, is the biggest and keeps it from being any type of crime. Even if you can prove 1 and 2 -- which to date there is zero evidence for -- this occurred in 2017 when Joe Biden was out of government and a private citizen. As such, he has every right, as a US Citizen, to have made money on the deal -- there is literally no crime tied to the text message (unless Joe Biden did receive money and did not report it on his taxes; but, again, while we can track the money paid nothing shows any of it went to Joe Biden).

A cease and desist letter from a lawyer isn't a court order.

Cease and desist letters are not legally binding at all. At best, they serve as a warning that if the action persists, a lawsuit may follow....but the letter itself has no force of law behind it whatsoever.

*sigh* My understanding is that the images shared by GOP representatives was a 'mockup' created by staffers based on what a whistleblower said was the content of an alleged WhatsApp message.

However, a spokesperson for Ways and Means told Newsweek on Friday that the photo was never intended to mimic a real screenshot, and that the message contained in the markup is directly from Shapley's testimony about Hunter Biden's alleged message.

Yes, Adam Schiff did... just as Republicans have been doing with Joe Biden for roughly 4 years now. Yet they can't seem to find any actual criminal activity when they are holding hearings, though it doesn't stop them from proclaiming loudly about how guilty Joe is once they leave the hearing rooms, despite the complete lack of evidence.

So fine, that takes care of about the first sentence of my post. So to remind you of the rest of it, where is any actual evidence that Joe knew about the text message and received any money from the deal; and to repeat, even if he did, what is the crime that was committed?

So the republicans will have to do an inquiry to see if they need a hearing, to have an investigation to see if there's any evidence.
