  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This may sound trivial to some, but it's not for me...

:crossrc:(sorry this is a book, but I need prayers please!):crossrc:

I currently work in IT. I have wanted to be in IT for a long time, and have been for the last 3 years. I jumped from a 1st tier support role to a 3rd tier support role just under a year ago. In my current role, the people I work for and with never have time to train me, there is no training module in place (my team lead was the first person to implement the software into the company, and was trained by a 3rd party vendor, so he had never had to train someone). Another person was brought in right before me, but he picked up everything pretty quick and is a vital role to our 3 person team. Since budget won't allow for any formalized training, my mgr has basically said to learn whatever I can by watching the other guys and reading stuff from the company's website. So, needless to say, I havent' learned much. I felt so disconnected from the team, and felt no ownership of the product I support. I've had multiple meetings with my manager, and he has told me he thinks I'm doing well, and that itll be like one day the lightbulb will just click on. He gives good speeches. :) Anyway, I've been super discouraged, and just want to know where I should be. I get a possible job offer from a friend of mine's company doing claim work. They have a 3 week "school" they send you to and train you. TRAINING, AWESOME!!! The work would be something I would pick up faster, since I'd have the groundwork training in place, and a mentorship program I could have through my friend who is a master claims rep at the place. I would take a small paycut, but would make it up as they give generous raises. I have been very interested in this position. Well, my manager came up to me last week and said that we're going to be rolling out some new software to some branches of call centers, and wants me to head it up...go get training, etc, etc. But it wouldn't be for a little while...but when they get word, they want to get someone trained and be ready to help roll it out, administer the software, etc. Basically run the show. I'd be working close to 50 hour weeks at times, but would possibly get a promotion so they could salary me. I am fine with that, because I feel I don't earn my check as it is. But I just was growing more discontent with IT as a whole, and was looking to get out, as I've just felt so out of place in this 3rd tier role, even though I was AWESOME in the 1st tier role. Anyway, I struggled with deciding which job I should go for, and finally asked God to show me which one He wants me to go for. I haven't felt anything until this morning. I sensed a peace about telling my boss I am applying for the other position and possibly leaving the company. So I applied for the job today, and was just trying to figure out how to say it to my boss, so that he doesn't get a bad taste in his mouth and blacklabel me (if he even would)...basically just wanted things to remain okay for me here, because who's to say the other job is a definite 100% lock that I'd get it. I get called into a room by my boss today and he tells me that they might fly me to Georgia for training...NEXT WEEK!!! It's Thursday now. So I'm asking for prayers over this. I just want to know God's will! I don't want to have this company waste money on me, if I'm going to take that other job if it's offered. My wife is praying for me and is supportive of whatever I decide. I called mom and told her about it. I told her, the best thing about the whole thing would be being able to have a couple nights alone studying the Word in peace, in a hotel room. :) She said to take the trip, not feel bad about it, and learn what I can learn. Maybe this is God's will for me afterall? I dont' know, and it's occupying my every thought! My wife and I have been praying about moving to another city as well, and with the lesser paying job, that is a good possibility as well. So that throws another connundrum into the mess. I am so torn as to what to do. Please pray for me. Thank you God, that I have a job regardless, have a home, and only have to really worry about these types of decisions, and not ones that some others have to worry about. God, you are good and gracious and I know I just need to be patient and you'll light my path, so please do so as fast as you want to. Help me to learn whatever you want me to learn.

In His Grip,
E

Br0k3n,
I hear that IT jobs are a never-ending snowball of learning. Peace to you! You might have even had this coincidence because your boss overheard something about the other job...in which case, God is blessing you by upping the antes through this dilemma.

Father, take him in your arms and give Br0k3n peace. You have said that we can ask for wisdom and you will give it; that you do not give your children stones when we ask for bread.

Knit every circumstance and activity together for your glory, for the good of Br0k3n.

Lord, please be with this couple and help them to lean on you for support and what you want them to do in thy will. Plan for them and speak to their hearts and souls. Help them to know that they need to do your will and way and not what the world tells them to do. In thy name amen!!
