Thank you guys for giving your opinions! Figuring out what is appropriate to wear has bugged me for a while. It got to the point where I felt like anything nice was bad because it would draw attention to you or take away from money that could be spent elsewhere... anyone have any thoughts on that? I come from a VERY appearance-focused culture, so it's tough to tell where the line is without doing a complete 180... Or maybe I should do a 180. Hmm.

On topics such as these in my own life I try to find balance. Trying to not be too legalistic or worldly. After examining many different perspectives I come to God prayerfully with a transparent conscience and do the best I can. God doesn't expect perfection just transparency and meekness of heart. At that point it becomes an ongoing transformation.

Good morning, everyone!

Very good point, Tigger. That's what I try to do. You can't go wrong with a happy medium. One thing is we will never please everyone all of the time. But if we know that God is happy with us and we are happy with ourselves, that's what counts. :)

 Hi folks, I'm back...

Well, the cafe was slow today, which was fine...got to chill out most of the time. Brought back a TON of food...mainly a bunch of Tortellini soup, blueberry muffins, some scones, and some quiche. I don't think I'll be going hungry this weekend lol

Hey Kazza, well I've visited Australia a few times, I don't remember eating scones there so I don't know how they would be different there as opposed to here...but my mom makes sweeter scones. I brought home raspberry white chocolate scones...and others got the coconut chocolate scones, and sometimes she'll make maple walnut scones. The folks that come in to her cafe love sweet stuff ^_^

Are you familiar with southern (US) biscuits? Well, that's what scones are like here....except they add the tiniest bit of sugar so it's sorta sweet but not cake like nor as dessert-like as your Mum's. Oh and they put sultanas in sometimes but not all the time. And one bakery we used to use, does one with pumpking seeds. (Pumpkin here as compared to how it's used in the states is a whole nudder story.)

Oh man, does that white chocolate and raspberry sound good!

Yes I'm familiar with southern biscuits...and that makes sense to me. My mom's aren't sweet initially, they're a very plain scone, but then she adds raspberry and white chocolate to it, or whatever she's going to add, and it makes it sweet without being too overpowering. Her raspberry white chocolate scone is my favorite!

The first time here that I made southern biscuits for my honeybunny and his Mum was so funny. You see, here "biscuits" are what Americans would call cookies.....although there are a few bickies the Aussies call cookies....oh, like chocolate chip......but anyway, I made a beautiful pan of southern biscuits and proudly put them on the supper table......both of them at the same instant said "Oh! Scones!" Much confusion reigned for a bit. LOL
