  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Im not so certain you have any info to back up what you say. I had a revelation while trippin one night. I came to the conclusion every human is connected spiritualy we are all one. One of my good firiends decided he wanted to go ino cgi animation for a living while trippin. These are all very constructive things. its not all about getting messed up...it opens up your third eye and you relaize things that you never could. Indians did the same with mushrooms its a vison quest type thing discovering yourself. You really cant comment on this matter unless you have experience. You can think its an illusion but these things must be on earth for something.

I have participated in a sweat lodge ceremony and abstained from any drugs though offered. I had an experience in which the Shaman told me later was meeting my spirit guide. I had no idea such things were possible. I don't need drugs to open my third eye...it has been open since birth and I practice daily shielding it. I have had visions and dreams that come true since I was 6 years of age. I do know of what I speak. It isn't necessary to do these things with drugs. It takes alot of meditation and devotion but it can be done. I have found that drugs interfere with my ability to have clarity. It dulls my senses and I have difficulty accessing my Chakras.

I can speak on this from personal experience. I don't speak of this lightly so you know even though I was really jesting in the previous post...I appologize if I offended you. If you want to know more about my experiences feel free to PM me.

Peace,
Casi

Some people attempt to force spiritual awareness upon themselves in a variety ways, including drugs. Such methods can work, but equal or better results can be had through cultivating spiritual awareness over time and with patience.

And, yes. Jimi Hendrix was a very special musician. The world is better for having him, and lessened by his untimely death.

I really wouldn't think so but that's based on his known practices that were publicised - but only God knows a mans heart personally.
And what of "Voodoo Childs" lyrics? (there are 2 versions he did:)

"On the night I was born Lord
I swear the moon turned a fire red
the night I was born
I swear the moon turned a fire red
well my poor mother cried out well the gypsy was right
and she fell down right there
well mountain lions found me there waiting
and sent me off on a eagle's wing
moantain lions found me there waiting
and sent me off on a eagle's wing an eagle's wing baby
he took me past the outskirts of infinity
and when we came back he gave me Venus to sing hey
and he said fly on fly on cause I'm a
Voodoo Child, Voodoo Child
hey yeh"

Definite spirituality there and he says "Lord" but a lot of singers say "Lord."
We can speculate about the drug trips and the sexual exploits, or his ultimate overdose on drugs.... but that too tells us nothing of his inner soul.

He also had this to say regarding religion:

""If you say you are playing electric church music people go 'gasp, gasp' or 'exclaim, exclaim'. The world church is too identified with religion, and music is my religion. Jesus shouldn't have died so early and then he could have got twice as much across. They killed him and then twisted so many of the best things he said. Human hands started messing it all up and now so much of religion is hogwash."

"If there is a God and He made you, then if you believe in yourself, you're also believing in Him...it does mean that what you are and what you do is your religion. I can't express myself easy in conversation -- the words just don't come out right. But when I get up on stage -- well, that's my whole life. That's my religion. My music is electric church music, if by 'church' you mean 'religion'. I am electric religion."

I also found this:

"As a young boy Jimi had always loved to attend church because of the music. Jimi and his family attended a black Baptist church and Jimi was especially interested in the hand clapping boisterous choral. When he was eight years old he was sent home from service because of his scruffy, raggedy clothes. He never forgot the humiliation and he rarely if ever went back to church. Although he was not very religious he led a life that was consistent to his beliefs in being a good person. "You have to forget about what other people say, when you're supposed to die, or when you're supposed to be loving. You have to forget about all these things. You have to go on and be crazy. Craziness is like heaven".3 This is truly what Hendrix believed in and this was his interpretation of religion"

My X had the opportunity to attend one of his birthday parties in the late 60s. She told me he seemed like a quiet humble man who just liked to play his guitar. Ultimately, only God knows the answer to your question. I do know I reject the institutional church, and I have fellowship with Jesus Christ. But I also know Jesus delivered me from a life of drugs & drinking 20 years ago. It's just too difficult to speculate about another persons relationship with God. God spoke to me while I was still partying.... maybe God spoke to Jimi too?

Also, "Love covers a multitude of sins......." the scriptures say.

How can one utterance just before one close's one's eyes be enough to save their soul when others spend a lifetime in devoted worship and obediance to Christianity?

I think that can happen. Look at the thief on the cross next to Jesus. At the last moment he realized he's been a screw up and asked Jesus to remember him. Jesus said he would be with him in paradise.

But, if someone KNOWS the path they should walk and purposely chooses to walk another path out of harmony with everything that's sacred, thinking they can call to God in their final moments.... I don't know about that one! I figure if you have awareness of the path you should be on, then you should be walking that path.

Namaste Starycrystal,

thank you for the post and the information!

it is very appreciated.

i'm with you on only God knowing what the condition of his heart is or was, as the case may be. i suppose i was wondering if he had a belief system that he practiced.. and i suppose, in a sense, he did.
