  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone love to put puzzles together?
What's the most number of pieces you have attempted?
I think I put together a 2,000 piece a few years ago. I REALLY want to try 5 to 9,000 pieces lol.

I would also LOVE to put together the huge life puzzle, I think that's 30,000 pieces. I believe it has animals, sea life, and planets. It would be an awesome challenge.

The best one I have seen was a round one of the Face of the Moon all shades of grays, whites and blacks, with no corners to help you start.
I don't remember how many pieces but, it was about 20-24 inch diameter.

I love jigsaw puzzles, but not if they are too hard. If I can't get a piece every couple of minutes, it isn't much fun for me. When I grew up my parents loved really hard puzzles, (like the one Jiminz mentioned.) and it was considered "cheating" to look at the box cover. That's too hard core for me now, I like 500 to 1000 piece puzzles with pretty pictures. I guess I'm getting old...

OH MY GOSH! I love them but not that big. I have been trying to download some I can do off line but have found none that actually work. Jigzone will continue on after you disconnect but there puzzles are no where near as big as you want, lol. I am a hoarder, I don't have a space for even a small puzzle, hahahahahaha.

Here is an old puzzle my parents had. I found all the pieces and put it together last year. It wasn't hard, but is unusual because the pieces are all wood.

When I was a kid the whole family would put them together on the kitchen table. Then when I had kids I continued the tradition. When my grandson was little we went back down to kid puzzles so he could join in. Then we discover scrapbooking and our table was never truly clean for so many years. Sigh.

This thread has inspired me to break out a jig saw puzzle. I started a 1000 piece one today. It made me think of several things.

1. Where would anyone even put a 30,000 piece puzzle? I'm using up an entire coffee table and part of a floor just for my little puzzle.
2. It would probably take me a week just to turn 30,000 pieces face up!
3. I always start on the edges and get upset if anyone else does....
4. My dog likes to help, usually by swishing her tail (It's a low coffee table) and brushing pieces under the couch, then sticking her nose in my face as if to say "wasn't that fun!?"
5. There is always some piece that you would swear on a stack of Bibles are "missing". You are ready to write to the manufacture and complain or carve them out of cardboard, but near the end (sometimes the very last piece) and they miraculously reappear.
6. I can distinguish shapes and colors; but not at the same time.
7. One piece in the wrong place can cause a whole host of troubles.
8. Given the above, I really don't get why I find doing jig saw puzzles so relaxing.:)

Have fun.
