Neither does most of the rest of the world. I had an Uncle assigned to one of the concentration camps after they were liberated. Most assuredly the holocaust happened.

Reparations?

I mean obviously the holocaust happened and obviously people deserve compensation for what was stolen, but since you asked... Germany has paid over $25 billion to Israeli survivors and also $700 million more in goods and services to the Israeli government. That doesn't include any other settlements and payments to survivors elsewhere. Plus the Israel government gives holocause survivors a monthly stipend as well as tax discounts. I believe it's over a 150,000 survivors still living in Israel. To me that implies more of a liklihood of someone claiming to be a survivor when they are not than any reason to lie about the entire history.

Some people don't completely deny the holocaust, but they refuse to view it as genocide, claiming all camps were simply the results of a nation at war and plenty of other nations have had detainees and political prisoners along with enemy POW's during times of war. Seems the people who think like this don't really grasp the concept of genocide. That would be = to saying (for example) the victims of the genocide in Rwanda were just war casualties.. even though it was purely a war against those specific people.

Those who deny the holocaust completely... it's kind of stunning to watch their documentaries -- I caught one late at night on public access and was floored by what they were claiming were the remains of the "so called" crematoriums... they went on and on with their odd "proof" that the gas chambers didn't exist. I guess though to someone who was never exposed to any education about the holocaust it would be hard to know what's authentic and what's not.

It not only happened, but it will never happen again- at least not without the protagonist also being annihilated. But only a fool would have any doubt that the Israelis will strike pre-emptively if necessary to avoid another holocaust.

What do you mean it won't happen again? Genocide happened before and it happened after. The specific genocide against European Jews? No.. it probably won't happen again. But we haven't learned much in the world about how to stop people from deciding to blame their problems on specific ethnic or religious groups and wanting power and control badly enough to try to subdue entire groups so of course it will happen again in one form or another, against one group or another.

I am not much of a one for sweeping generalisations of any kind. No doubt most Jewish people are decent, honest people, and do not lie about anything. No doubt others, for whatever reason, would not know the truth if they tripped over it. The Jews are no different in this from any other race.

As for the holocaust, there is a huge difference between telling a lie and telling the truth. I doubt there is one single person on earth who could tell the truth about the holocaust, because it is known only to God.

So most of us, whatever our faith, whatever our race, fall somewhere between the lie and the truth, and struggle with whatever bit of reality we have managed to grasp.

But there has certainly been genocide worse than the holocaust since the second world war. Russia for one, China for another. The difference was, they mostly killed their own, and the world mostly has no alternative but to tolerate that.

Lord, have mercy on us all.

I don´t see any reason to assume that there is a difference between Jews and non-Jews in terms of honesty. I am working from the notion that Jews can lie about pretty much everything that non-Jews can lie about, too.

I don´t know where that particular claim is made.
However, I notice there are some crackpots who deny the holocaust. Since the evidence for the holocaust has been brought about by all sorts of people, it seems that the holocaust deniers think all these guys and lads were liars - not only the Jews among them.

I have no doubt that the holocaust happened. So this question is entirely hypothetical, to me. I can think of a lot of reasons for a group to picture itself wrongly as the victim of persecution. It starts with financial reparations and ends with the victim status that can gain a group immunity against criticism.

Well, I'm afraid that's not true. There are people who are Christians who are holocaust deniers and there are Christians who deny that atrocities occurred against certain groups of people.

Only God knows the truth about the holocaust? It wasn't that long ago... quite a few can and do provide truthful information about the holocaust. Do you have some different truth in mind?

Some people are just ignorant, I suppose, or plain hateful and nothing more productive to do with their time. Don't worry about it. Most everybody knows the truth and the ones who don't haven't got any power to do anything about it anyway.
