  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello

When i read through these forums, i have noticed that some of the replies do not seem to take into acount to WHOM what was beig said. Should we for example take what Jesus was saying to essentially jews at the time and just apply it to our selves. Are we not under 2 differet contracts with God....I am not trying to suggest that what Jesus said has no value to u, however as it was addressed to Jews however just picking scriputures without looking at whom they were addressed surely can mislead you into trying to be a Jewish Gentile.

If the sermon on the mount had been the sermon at "trafulgar square : London" would it have had he same content. Because we ( gentiles) were graftd in, should we go around holding onto commands and teachings that may not actually have been directed/inteded for us.

To shoot myself in the foot :

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

re: court of the gentiles in the temple complex

jesus spoke to those 'who had an ear'...some jews didnt get the message..and some of the goyim..gentiles.

isiaiah 11:10

"And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious."

abram was a gentile...and job...and ruth....

they were there building the kingdom along with everyone else...

jesus knew this..:)

The Torah was not just a list of commandments....it was the "Constitution" for a new nation of slaves when Israel left Eygpt. It was the template for Temple worship and it's "employees"

A lot of that didn't apply to gentiles who lived in other nations. Especially since the Temple was soon destroyed.

However, the Torah is still the foundation for all of Yeshua's teaching so it absolutely should be "observed" and understood whenever possible to grasp the depth of the New Testament writings.

Not as a ritual but as a priviledge.

Galatians 3:28 KJV There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

I do not think that I am under a contract with God as those before Christ were. I have accepted the inheritance from a Testament, if you want, a one sided contract where God did all the perfomance. All I have to do is to receive the inheritance. I accepted His grace, and due to His Spirit now in me, I want to do good, due to my new nature.

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

[Strongs - G1242; diathēkē: From G1303; properly a disposition, that is, (specifically) a contract (especially a devisory will): - covenant, testament. ]

As you can see the same word was used for contract / testament. However, within the context of the verses clearly you can see that the new contract is a testament. The old contract passed away (unless you cling to it)
Hebrews 8:13 ESV In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
