  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

in the bible in matthew 1 shows us the linage of jesus to King David through Josph mary's betroved. If mary was a virgin ( which i do believe that she was)
how was jesus related to king david ? God had to fufill his promise to David stated in 1 chronicles 17: 11 says " one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne for ever. "

It is most interesting that you should mention this at this time. Very recently I have been thinking about this. And I have come to the conclusion that Jesus is not a descendant of anyone, except that He is The Son of God.

It just confirms my belief that the Old Testament (and the bits of the New Testament that were specificially written with bonding the Old Testament to the New Testament) need to be read with extreme caution.

In the Law and Moses in the Old Testament and The New Teachings of Jesus we have essentially two almost opposing teachings. Is it any wonder that Christianity is such a fragmented religion?

I myself put my faith in the Four Gospels, and I treat everyinging else that went before or after as "background" information.

Well Mary was also related to King David. I think it has her geneaology in the book of Mark. Also understand that Jesus is described as being "King of the Jews" and a descendant of Jesse. This is to fufill prophesy saying that he is to come from the line of David, so that geneology's there to fufill that part of scripture, so it's not completely without it's historical and religious value. Jesus was human just as he was God.

May I add further, that from my research, The Lineage of Priesthood - From David thru Nathan - is the Maternal (Mary's) Geneology, while The Lineage of Royalty - From David thru Solomon - is the Paternal (Joseph's) Geneology. According to Law and Tradition, when a father recognizes the "legitimacy" of his son, that son inherits his father's heritage, but it attributes the mother as well (in marriage the two become one).
In cases where a man has multiple wives, like Joseph (he was a widower with children from his first marriage) the son's lineage will note the mother (Mary), thus the confusion.
