Sea of Galilee...is a fresh lake with fish it flows into the river Jordan which flows down to the Salt Sea (The Dead Sea) which has no fish.Eruliel said:
Grr. I'm trying to find physical facts about the Sea of Galilee...Galilea...Galilae...anyway mainly I want to find the salt content because unless something weird was going on there shouldn't have been any ice on that body of water because of the salt. I mean even 3rd graders know that salt melts ice...and slugs. But apparently according to the article there might've been changes in the salidity and made the sea water fresh water. There are a couple of problems though.
1. The waves were pretty darned rough that day, and probably could've capsized the fishing boat, let alone some little blocks of ice.
2. Why (if it was below freezing) didn't the masts or the sails on the boat freeze as well?
3. Peter didn't say "I climbed out of the boat onto a block of ice. I climbed out of the boat and I was standing on water". Explain.
Then we come to the question: Who isn't to say that Jesus made those changes in the sea so it could freeze? Why he would go through so much trouble is beyond me, but it's possible. I mean you say there's a natural explination for it. If that's the case then God made it possible for that to happen, so either way it was a miracle.
Slainte!

ps. Your title made me think this was going to be an article on how they've decided to put one of the four gospels on ice...like Disney on ice. That would be disturbing...
I just want to make sure you have your facts straight.
