Jesus walked on the waters

Man's understanding of God is as a great sea of disbelief and people sink in iniquity as in the great flood but jesus will always be above these teachings. Also his body or church will stay above these teaching. The church is also likened onto as a ship but it would be better to say the covenent is like an ark or ship and the body of christ will not sink into iniquity even outside that covenent.

Yes, we know that Jesus is eternal and we know from John that Jesus was present at and even involved in creation. But are you trying to imply that Genesis 1 has Jesus walking on the water of the deep? Because the Hebrew verb where God is moving over the water (merahephet) is the participial form of the verb rahaph (Strong's 7363) which does not have the meaning of walk. It means more of 'hovering' almost like an eagle hovering over its young (see Deuteronomy 32:11).

It is good to try to draw connections but we need to always be true to the text.

I hope this helps. ;)

I meant to show the spirit made flesh but there i was referring to the Spirit before it was made flesh. Too explain this better you will have to get into the trinity. If I do this debating thing it will cause problems and i do not wish to do that at all. Please do not be offended by these teachings and I tell you true, I love the lord and he is my savour. Jesus is my savour and lord. I will add to that teaching and remove any confusion.

I did not question that you are saved and I believe in the Trinity. I am also a Biblical Scholar of the Old Testament. If you wish to end our discussion that is fine, but this is a debate forum. I was just trying to clear up what I thought was a linguistic misunderstanding. I thought that you were trying to imply that in Genesis 1 Jesus walked on water. My point was that no one in Genesis 1 walks on water (the verb means that the subject, in this case God, 'hovered' over the water). If this was not what you were implying that is fine. And again, you are under no obligation to continue this conversation.

Who told you tis was a debate forum?

Debate implies a difference of opnion..
Couldn't this forum rather be construde as a place where believers can come together for mutual edification in the Holy Spirit instead?

But, he ws implying no such thing.. At least, not to my understanding..

In that case it would be relevant to rebuke error.

to the OP, yes, man's understanding is quite limited.
We have nothing, Jesus becomes our everything, praise God :)

And nope, He dun sink ;)

Which is precisely what I was doing.

This has a few underlying assumptions that are incorrect. First off, edification can come from debate. Debate is how we learn about others and about ourselves. Debate is how we learn what has been believed and what is believed. Furthermore, if you observe anything on this forum, it is a debate forum. By the very nature of the fact that we can post our opinions and our opinions are likely different, this is a debate forum. Also, if debate implies a difference of opinion, that is ok, from my reading of what he/she was saying we do have a difference of opinion. That's perfectly fine, again, like I said above, differences of opinion and debate are how we learn.

But, he ws implying no such thing.. At least, not to my understanding..

The linguistic misunderstanding to which I refer is it seemed that he/she was interpreting the movement over the water as walking which is something that would be very understandable when reading the account in English. I was not trying to degrade his/her ability to interpret the Bible, nor even the basic claims that he/she was making. I was only trying to add my linguistic knowledge so that he/she could include that information in his/her study of the Bible.

Does this define the waters?

Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

If so could this also be some of the waters in Gen.? It seems there are many waters? I kinda like the waters in Gen 1:2 to be those who are reading the Words of God. Jesus says that the Words he speaks to us are Spirit and they are life. These Words introduced us to the creation. Until I read these Words, darkness moved upon the face of me and the depths I have been given to possess. These Words tread upon my high places. Moreover, the harlot is no longer there. I think this way — I was part of the waters below and now, because of Christ Jesus, I am risen and part of the waters above. I am open to be reproved.

Ge 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Ge 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Ge 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Ge 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
Ge 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
Ge 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Jesus walked on the waters because He is above all creation. We could also walk on water if we would focus on Jesus as Peter did for a short time. Jesus said we who are filled with the Holy Spirit of God could do and should do all He did and even more.

As to the comment questioning the beginning creation. It was the Holy Spirit that moved over the water. Jesus spoke the words. Lets be clear about what we are discussing.

God bless all who seek the Lord and the filling of the Holy Spirit.
