Just curious, if the Disciples weren't there, how did they know what took place and was said during Christ's Temptation?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They may have learned from Jesus in person.
They may have observed from a distance.
They may have learned from other people who talked about seeing Jesus in the desert.
They may have been inspired to an understanding by the power of the Holy Spirit through visions or dreams, or the intepretation of tongues.
These are just a few of the possibilities.
What is critically important though, is not how the disciples came to know what they knew. What is most important is what the temptation of Christ may reveal to us about our own lives, what it has taught those that had ears to listen throughout the millenia, and those that are led to a deeper understanding of Jesus, God and human nature through listening to his trials and deeds such as these.
Unfortunately today too many people spend their time trying to prove or disprove the historical veracity of this or that story in the Bible. In the process, what is missed is how the story is spiritually true over and above anything else that it may or may not be. It is the spiritual aspects of the bible that are of immeasurable value in helping to sort out the priorities of our own lives.
