The movie is really nice, yet it's more about Greg Laurie. Still, I liked it a lot. Greg came to Christ through Lonnie Frisbee, who also catalyzed the growth at Calvary Chapel. Though well done, It only scratches the surface of his life.

Lonnes Frisbee's autobio (in 3 parts) is much more interesting than the movie as many more revivals took place through him beside Calvary Chapel and Vineyard. For example, many revivals took place in South Africa.

I lived in the area (Orange County California) and was positively influenced as a youth as I had as would be an ex-Catholic nun take me to the Calvary Chapel tent - as she (bless her heart) was also curious. I have a friend who met all three major characters in the movie (Chuck Smith, Lonnie Frisbee, and Greg Laurie).

This was my review of the movie:

I love faith-based movies, but this is probably the faith-based movie I’ve felt the least engaged in. It just felt boring, there really weren’t any stakes or anything. The Hippies just start showing up, the pastor has to deal w/ to accept them or not for a bit, another convert has to wrestle w/ if he wants to date a girl or not (b/c we haven’t seen that in every movie), & that’s about it.
On the positive side, I liked the Hippie Jesus character. I liked the message & themes. I love the sequence where the elders / deacons want to reject the Hippies b/c they stain the carpet w/ their barefeet, & the pastor washes their feet to allow them in. I loved the scenes of actual news footage, especially the ending sequence.
Overall I think this is an interesting topic that could’ve been executed better.
I give this a 3/5
(Kelsey Grammar is in this; I’m not super familiar w/ him, but I didn’t know how serious he was about his faith)

I saw the film a few days ago, and enjoyed it.

Kelsey Grammar delivered a terrific performance as the senior pastor, and Jonathan Roumie was quite good as Lonnie Frisbee.

The film had some nice underlying themes regarding pride, prudence, and personal growth. I didn't feel the Christian message was watered-down or secondary to the overall plot, but the film was more about the people than the spiritual message.

Probably not suitable for an audience under the age of 16, as it does feature drug abuse, and some intense scenes. Other than that, it is a good family movie

The last great revival in the US has been made into a movie and will be out shortly

The last great revival. Revival of what specifically if possible ?

At the one minute point in the trailer, is it Jesus being portrayed telling the pastor that "we can only walk through doors that are open, open doors. And your church, the doors are shut ...."?
Is that like Keith Greens observation/song lyric "Jesus knocked on the door, and we left Him out in the rain .... " ?

The Creator Directs One Way, In Jesus, Straight and narrow:

Exodus 20:3-5
King James Version

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me
