John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
The apostles preached the gospel of the kingdom.
The apostles at that time were not preaching the good news that Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose again for my justification. That is the good news that I believed for salvation and it is not the word that they preached.
In that particular passage Christ was not praying for us.There he was praying for his disciples and those in Israel who would believe the good news that was for them, the gospel of THEIR salvation.
BUT He DOES most certainly pray for US HIS BODY today...now...
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.
The things that belong to Israel are theirs and we are not to rob them for ourselves. Every verse in the Bible is NOT about us personally. This is where the principle of cutting a straight line, rightly dividing the word of truth the gospel of YOUR salvation comes into view.
