It does not mean He will have a new name, but that He will give us some new name.

Its "His name" in the meaning "given by Him".

Christ does have a name that no one knows.

Revelation 19:12, ESV: "His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself."

I've always believed that it is a name that cannot be profaned here on earth as his precious name of "Jesus" and his title of "Christ" is profaned here on earth.

Our Father,.. who art in Heaven,.. Howard be thy name. (Obviously it's actually Hallowed LOL but I heard Howard as a kid. XD!!)

It does not mean He will have a new name, but that He will give us some new name.

Its "His name" in the meaning "given by Him".

no ... don't think they are the same.

like stated in another post (post #8) .... the referenced text when going into the greek is used as a personal pronoun ..... ie my/me (first person)

in Rev 2:17 in the greek is (to him) (third person) also preceding verse sets context ... (the one who is victorious - that person) He(I) will give that person a new name.

We will get new names and Jesus will have a new name also.

Wow! That is cute: 'Andy'. As said: we will speak and know differently in Heaven, and we will speak of God-our Father differently than now ----doubtfully: 'Andy'.

Actually, now that I think of it it could have been Harold as well.
