Maybe you are closer to Catholicism than you think? ;)

I kid, I kid.

BUT, it's my understanding many within Lutheranism do accept the Virgin Mary as having other children OTHER than Jesus.

[Yes. I am aware Luther had a high veneration for her, and even prayed the (pre-reformation) rosary on a regular basis]
I agree. Lutherans were always evangelical catholics.

St. Jerome's work on the subject convinced me of the Perpetual Virginity of Mary.
  • Confessional Lutheran scholars, like Franz Pieper, believed that Mary's perpetual virginity was the traditional view among Lutherans.
  • The Smalcald Articles, a Lutheran confession of faith, affirms the doctrine of Mary's perpetual virginity, "ever-virgin"
  • Early Lutherans celebrated the Virgin Mary's memory during feasts like Annunciation, Visitation, Purification, and Christmas.
Not just early Lutherans; we celebrate all of these faithfully, as well as the the Feast of St. Mary, Mother of our Lord (Assumption, dormation, as a matter of pious opinion)
Formula of Concord, Solid Declaration:
24 On account of this personal union and communion of the natures, Mary, the most blessed Virgin, bore not a mere man, but, as the angel [Gabriel] testifies, such a man as is truly the Son of the most high God, who showed His divine majesty even in His mother’s womb, inasmuch as He was born of a virgin, with her virginity inviolate. Therefore she is truly the mother of God, and nevertheless remained a virgin.

This Evangelical Catholic faith is something I deeply respect and love as someone of a largely German and Swedish ethnic background, because of my relatives and ancestors who participated in the Lutheran church and the continuity it provides with my current faith.
