  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jesus created by design?

How do you know that "He" is who you are not? What if, secretly, you are your own creator? This is why I feel it is insincere to worship something you don't fully know exists. Which is why I do not believe in worship, which I have tried before.

Yes, of course. I can choose to do anything I want to do. But only because this is how I am designed. We are all designed to become whatever it is we choose to become, and do whatever it is we choose to do. This is why I do not believe that God would design beings to worship. God would seem too intelligent to design something so insincere.
Your logic is good and your conclusions are resonable. Most choices are the result of our genes and environment, down to which pen we will pick. All that can be credited to God. Some of us will sin more than others partly as a result of our genes and environment, but none of that really matters since one sin is as significant as a million sins and sin is not the problem.

Each mature adult human stuff from hurting other people and the conscience becomes burdened with these transgressions. Relieving this burden results in lots of wrong choices, with the only right choice being trusting in a loving Creator to forgive your transgressing, relief your burden and accept His Love. The ability to make that one free will choice is all that counts. That ability is God given (God actually relinquishes some of His power to allow humans to have this “free will” being like God Himself, so we can really be like God in that we have obtained, Godly type Love. Godly type Love is the greatest gift that God could give us since it is the greatest power in all universes that compels even God. God’s Love is compelling Him to do all He can to just get humans to accept the gift because it cannot be forced on them and still be Godly type Love.

As far as “worship” that is something we get to do that helps us grow our Love, which is what we want to do. If you do anything without this Godly type Love it is worthless (1 Cor 13: 1-4) and if we have this Love it will compel us to do good stuff including worship.

Okay, so this is what I've come to as my conclusion. We are not currently God, but we are living out our lives as God's creation. And then we become God. What's up with all these people putting on a show? Come on, let's go do something fun together and stop wasting so much time talking about all of this fiction! Everything will be alright! ;)

The Holy Spirit which goes hand and hand with the bible is a great start. I pray and take one day at a time. What is your hearts desire? What are your gifts? When something is Gods will-doors will open. What is most important is that you are the salt and light where ever God plants you.

Take one day at a time and get some inspirational friends that love God by their actions. Read the bible and pray daily. Get involved in a serious church. Its a life long lifestyle and you will know God more and more. True faith is demonstrated by actions. Feel free to email me.

Its up to you to follow the Holy Spirit. Ask God to give it to you. Do you have it in your life? Pray and get to know God. Praying is just talking to God. The bible is Gods Word-scripture is very important-its an eternal guide.

Humans have a free will-you are not a computer. Your desires and choices will determine your life. God wants beings to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. God does things for his pleasure and glory. I'm a christian for spiritual reasons first and intellectual reasons second. Since there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence on the bible compared to other books-and its attributes conclude it could only be written by God-I'm not going to question God's mind. We walk by faith and one will not know everything until one dies. God just wants are child like love and to trust Him. You can show people all the evidence in the world-but if they just can't accept it-they won't.

Godseeker-You will never become God. He is the Creator and you are the creature. If you didn't create the universe-and you are not all powerful and you are not all knowing-your NOT God.

There is no fiction here. You don't want to listen.

I don't think we can ever become God, that would be robbing the Lord of His throne and the last time that was attempted there was a big big fight. It's not to say that the idea hasn't been thought of already, but there's only one person in Christianity who can be God and that is Jesus.

I think as long as you think you can someday become God then you'll never come to accept God for who He actually is. I think you are gradually coming round to accepting God for who He is, but there's a bit of anger left at present, this needs to be converted to humility. Don't give up GodSeeker1, you are getting closer to discovering the truth with each day you spend doing it!

For the OP I think the future is calculated, that every event (decision) has an impact on the outcome of "the future", that if ever something went wrong enough the Lord would run back to "the present" and prevent it from happening. I also know the Lord can see ahead of time, hence the warnings we receive when we are tempted to sin. This idea is based on some assumptions:

The Lord does know the future.
There is ample tolerance for free will (so long as it doesn't upset the path of the future).
We have the right to know God through a manifested spiritual relationship with Jesus.

So we are all given the same right to know God, it's clearly a matter of free will, but only when both you and the Lord are willing to live together.

A seed is (presumably) designed to grow into any number of variations of a familiar structure. It is built with a response system to environmental changes. Every tree is different, but able to be classified.

In genetics, DNA operates in a similar way. It is "designed" to produce certain traits in an organism, but two organisms with the same DNA might appear different when fully grown.

Humans recognize certain predicitabilities like birth order personalities, genetic lung capacity and bone structure, timidity after abuse, adaptation to temperatures of a region.

People say things like "hot headed red head," which admit to some slight level of predestined tendency. Not clear determination, not robotic behavior, and certainly not even consistently true.

When Jesus was born, there was no predetermination in how He would respond to challenges. He overturned tables and argued with religious leaders, showed compassion on people who didn't deserve it. He was under such strain while praying before his crucifixion, that he was sweating blood. Stress responses are not robotic and rarely predictable.

Stress itself pops out in all sorts of ways. Some people clench their teeth, some get ulcers, some retain toxins and develop cancer, some get fibromyalgia, some exercise to bring a release of tension. Our bodies are "designed" to respond in any number of ways, but no one narrow way.

There are very few objects in nature that are completely predictable and routine. Instead, there is an order.
