Thanks for the link, datan. I'm not saying that I believe she was raped. Not because I believe one side over the other, only because I question how the US medics could find evidence of rape weeks after her capture (especially if she remembers nothing but being treated well by doctors). My problem with Bruce's post was the misplaced blame on Jessica (especially after reading the link you gave) instead of where the blame should lie...the media and the government. As far as I'm concerned, Jessica is an innocent in this whole media frenzy. And if she does get any money out of book deals or whatever...you know, I think she deserves it. She's a hero in my book...just as every single soldier over there is.

Love, Heather

Once again I think we should keep in mind that the news media is in the business of making money. Nothing more, nothing less. People will read a story of how Pvt. Lynch was raped and will want to know more. The whole affair with this kid angers me on nearly every point. It also makes me glad I'm in the infantry.

I agree lunachick - this is the basis of my objection to having women in the battle, even in support positions. They are much more vulnerable to degrading treatment than men. :sigh:
Please, I worked with Vietnam Vets for 5 years, many, many, men get raped too and the only difference is, it's not acknowledged. What makes you think a POW camp is any different from any other prison? Men in power over other men will rape and even more will do so if there are no women available.
