Let me begin by saying that this poem is NOT intended for the purpose of scandalizing the Hebrew people, or blaming them SOLELY for Our Lord's Crucifixion; ALL HUMANITY is to blame for that. That having been said, please allow me to continue: I wrote this song some time after the drummer in a Christian metal band that I used to sing for showed me a videotape of the group he was in that went to the Holy Land with Zola Levitt (if anyone has heard of him). In the videotape, he (this drummer, Lance) was seen stepping up to the Wailing Wall to pray, and was told by a nearby Orthodox Jew that he had no right, simply because Lance was an obvious Caucasian, and clearly not a Jew (sometimes "Jewishness" is not so "obvious", as we all know: Jerry Lewis, Barbara Streisand, Jerry Springer, Jay Sekulow, Barry Manilow, the list goes on & on). This obvious rip on my friend incensed me, and gave me the inspiration for the lyrics to this song {(c) 1994}.
JERUSALEM
The blood of the prophets stains your great city walls
The time is at hand to atone for it all
For when He comes in the blink of an eye
Dark Dungeon of Death
Or Castle On High
Jerusalem
When Will You See The Light?
Jerusalem
Accept The Son Of Light!
Jerusalem
Your Roots can't Save your Skin
Jerusalem
Invite Yeshua Within!
You say you are Sacred and noble by Birth
But God can make kings outta big clumps of dirt
Only those from your bloodline may pray at The Gate
But The One you rejected will decide your fate!
"You gotta be one of the brothers, buddy!"
Well, I can tell you you're in the wrong brotherhood, sonny!
You crucified Him outside your very own Gates
You're a people marred and corrupted by hate
He doesn't care that you call yourself a Jew
'Cause we're only people, and so are you!
