That's my own personal dilemma as well, for the most part. I consider myself pro-life and I am against many, if not most, "elective" abortions, although I am also pro-choice and believe there should a lot of choice given to pregnant women about abortion. This is mainly due to health reasons, which are numerous, even if a woman isn't likely to die from the pregnancy.
To me, it falls into a range that is very grey, much like terminating the life of a sick and incapacitated (often elderly) relative, such as making a decision to "pull the plug". We don't ban that but it's effectively a form of euthanasia, but there are actually good reasons for it and there are sometimes very good reasons for abortions.
