Romans 8:38-39 - I have become absolutely convinced that neither death nor life, neither messenger of Heaven nor monarch of earth, neither what happens today nor what may happen tomorrow, neither a power from on high nor a power from below, nor anything else in God's whole world has any power to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord! JBP

No matter what translation one uses, it is clear that there is nothing, in life or death, that can seperate the Christian from the Love of God. But not so when it comes to seperating one Christian from the love of another. There are two things, in life that can do it quicker than lightening: Pride and jealousy.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

We must keep our focus, and know who and what we are in Jesus and care not that others have a higher or lower position than we do. We need to understand that we are all given a job to do and that we must be busy in the doing of it.

May Jesus help us to keep our eyes on Him and not on others. May we understand that it is by His Grace that we are what we are, and that no one else can take our place, nor can we fill the shoes of another. God in His wisdom has made us all different.

If we keep our eyes on Jesus, jealousy and pride will have no place in our lives.

Great message Gerry,
I have to admit that just last night I found a bit of jealousy trying to wiggle it's way into my heart and had to ask God not to let it. I'm thankful to God for allowing me to see it for what it was though. It seems sometimes we can easily fool ourselves into thinking we have a right to be, when in reality we don't have.

Thanks for that testimony! Ya know, it is surely true that we, as Christians, are all attacked by that spirit of Jealousy, at some point in time.

But have you ever noticed how when you step back and take a fresh look, you are amazed even at yourself, and most often say: "UGH!!! I was jealous of THAT? WOW!"

Jealousy is a cruel and viscious destroyer of love relationships, marraiges, friendships, partnerships, fellowships, and, well you name it! But when we look at who we are in Jesus and then take a second look at the situation we see it for the silly, absurd thing it really is.

Jealousy certainly is a destroyer! It can destroy our own hearts if allow it to get a foothold on us. Something that truly amazes me is how quickly I can see it for what it is in a sense, it's hard to explain but as the thoughts start coming into my head about certain things the Holy Spirit lets me know I shouldn't think that way, so I can immidiatly pray about it. And that makes me think about how God sends his angels out regarding us so we wont stumble or fall :)

Jeaslousy and pride is definetely something corrosive for us. In the past i've been jealous of small things. I've learnt from them now :). After being jealous i sought to do evil things against that person i was jealous to and it really wasn't pretty. I stopped fortunately after seeing how 'evil' i've become which was a real wake up call.

It's a 3 fold explosive to our walk with Jesus when jealousy hits us hard. 1, we hurt someone 2, we hurt ourselves and 3, we make ourselves more proud after doing it and it sort of multiplies from there.

Ouchy...

Amen Sharky! I like what you say about it being corrosive, that's just what it is.

Always remember to thank the Lord for the lessons we learn! Even when we have to learn them hard way.

I think back to when I was your age I was so lost back then. I thank the Lord that you're not, and that He's given you eyes that can truly see how much better His ways are than ours :)
