Jealous of Bf's Success

Hi Everyone,

My BF and I are both actors. I have been trying to get into the business for years but my BF only got into it when he saw how happy I was doing it. Now he is getting all this work handed to him and I have gotten nothing. I know I should be happy for him but I am so jealous. I've worked so hard and he was just handed his opportunity. Is God made at me or something?

A lack of success isn't an indication that God is angry with you, but jealousy is not a healthy feeling you should do your best to purge yourself of it or it will eat you alive.

I agree, I don't think that this says anything about God being made at you.

I remember in Bible College students coming back from summer ministeries. One guys and a move of God with his young group. None of the others did. He got invited to speak at chapel. Another student wasn't very happy afterwards because she took it as God blessed his ministery but her's didn't and she know she was as sincere as he was. That was true of so many. So many pastors as well. One pastor said to me, he's never seen a revival in his whole Christian life.

So I have no feeling as to what you are to do, but just as you wouldn't want to be puffed up by success, don't get "failure" be a judgment either.

Dig a little deeper, think about what's really fuelling this jealousy. Is it to cover up an unbearable feeling that you just aren't good enough, that you BF getting ahead of you so soon is just proof that if you had it what it takes you'd be there too? Is there a theme in your life of feeling that God doesn't answer your prayers? Do you have an underlying suspicion that you aren't in the right place, or at the right time, and you may in fact be missing the boat?

Spend some time with God, talking about your situation, about his heart and desires for you. Talk to him about what's really going on, and ask for help and guidance dealing with those issues.

*You are called to represent the Lord in all you do, that includes when you succeed and when you fail. If the green eyed monster is causing you problems you have some spiritual growing to do...your homework awaits and jealousy needs to be uprooted from your life!
Connect with a Christian mentor and work on you and your relationship with the Lord.
Examine your career choice, is this where you should be? How have you been honoring the Lord as a Christian in that career?
Have you been working just as hard on having a deeper faith walk or has the pursuit of acting jobs been the driving force in your life?

Hope you know that there has usually been more leading men than leading ladies. Maybe the opportunities are just skewed.
