We don't do any real Jazz. But we do some jazzesque arrangements of some tunes. Good stuff.

the music at my worship service are so traditional the old folks would faint if we played jazz. like the other person said,I WISH. i think the southern baptist gospel churches have got it going on,can i join them? not to change the post topic please don't do that to fdrennen but whoa,we need better moving music in churches here.

I played 'The Nearness of You' on piano in the X-mas sermon last year, and my friend sang. It has nothing to do with Christmas (and fortunately not many in my church do understand English well since we're not native English speakers over here in Switzerland ), but I had always wanted to play/sing a Jazz song, so I saw the Christmas sermon a great opportunity to present something new to my church. Their reaction was awesome, and I take it as a good reason to sing more Jazz songs in our church in the future. I also do write songs myself, and I'm about composing a Jazz song with Christian lyrics.

Hello, we have an organization The Christian Jazz Artists Network that has over 50 top jazz artists ( who just happen to be Christians ) Many are doing jazz worship services or integrating more jass into their church music programs.

I just discovered your site today , it is awesome! I was looking for lead sheet arrangements of Easter hymns for Sunday morning. I began this thread to explore the resources for deeper worship in an American cultural idiom.

This Sunday will be a perfect example. We're doing a pseudo Bossa Nova arrangement of Because He Lives. And it works, and sounds good.

I really love blues music it rocks! blues music is what created rock I thing like Led Zeppelin Where based on blues music and their legends I also like jazz music I`ve good and good influence from jazz which I use a lot in my drumming!

We definitely need jazz in church. As much as I love contemporary and rock music, placing jazz interludes in services would not be a bad idea.
