Welcome to December's photography contest. :) As you can see below, the theme for the month is your choice.

This is the schedule of the monthly themes. If we get to the end of that list and it is still going strong then we can come up with new themes, or repeat the old one.

June - pets/animals
July - nature
August - children/babies
September - night
October - landscapes
November - people in-general
December - cityscapes
January - your choice
February - man-made construction (towers, bridges, individual buildings, etc.)
March - gardens
April - insects (giving you all time to prepare ;) )

I'll post the new contest on the 1st day of each month.

Be thinking of new themes or let me know if there are ones you would like repeated. :)

PRIZES

Prizes will be the same for each month.

1st Place - 15 reps from me
2nd Place - 10 reps from me
3rd Place - 8 reps from me
Honorable mention - 4 reps from me

RULES

1. You may enter up to 3 pictures.
2. You must rep me once for each picture submitted in order to be eligible.
3. Photographs must be ones you have taken.
4. Photographs cannot have been altered.
5. Entries close the 15th of the month. (Gives you time to prepare for the next one. ;) )

We, the other judge and I, have decided that we want to stick with unaltered photographs from now on. While we have allowed them in the past, it just opens it up to stuff that we didn't have in mind when we created the contest. So I have altered the rules to add that. :)

Dawn, you are going to be ready to wring my neck by the time you are through answering my many questions just for the Jan. contest. :D

Would you please define what consitutes alteration - some are obvious, of course, but some not so. Does this include any adjustments to brightness, color, etc.? Does it also include cropping of photos (I am hoping not on this one)?

Btw, HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!!!!

First, sorry about not changing the theme in the OP. All fixed now. :sorry:

Second, by altered I don't mean cropped or using different settings to get different effects, I mean changing the look of the picture once it is taken by using programs like Photoshop, etc. I am fine with the auto image enhancer, too, I don't think it changes the picture that much.

Third, I'll have to talk to the other judge, but the more photos that one person can submit the greater the chance they will have pictures in more than one place. While we have been lucky that it hasn't happened in the past, it has been close. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Acceptable? Not an entry... just an example...

Would this be acceptable...?

This is a negative of the above?

Not trying to push the limits, just trying to get a handle on the definition of *altered* for the purposes of the contest???
