Some need not hear this, but some might: it is worth noting that the telescopes aren't merely about pretty pictures, but rather about new information that the precision can illuminate.

No offense to @sjastro, but the JWST is worth the difference in price.

I've mentioned this few times in the past but NASA publish two types of images.
The first type is the whiz-bang technicolor spectacular images released to the press and the second type are what the astronomers analyze which are considerably more conservative.
The first type is in the pretty picture category which is a public relations exercise not only targeting the general public but also the politicians who hold the purse strings.
NASA provide the raw data to talented amateurs such as Judy Schmidt to produce images for public consumption.
Ironically it's the pretty pictures that could extend the life span of a project not the actual science.

Laura Ingraham on Fox News: she errs, you decide

In his remarks at the White House, Biden had mentioned the Webb telescope in the context of his executive order designed to combat the potential negative consequences of artificial intelligence. “Did he call it the ‘Webb telescope’? Isn’t it the Hubble? Is he thinking of Webb-Hubble? I don’t understand,” Ingraham said, bursting into laughter. Shortly after, the Fox host cleared things up. “There is a Webb telescope that I didn’t know about,” she told viewers. “I stand corrected by Joe Biden.”

The only Webb I know went around busting crooks.
