Jake Hess dies

Jake Hess died yesterday morning.

He was known as "Mr.Gospel Music"

Often imitated by others he set the standard for many gospel singers to follow.

Elvis Presley considered him one of his favorite singers and would often seek advice on how to sing a gospel song.

The funreral will be Wednesday in Columbus,Georgia.

In the space of a week we have lost two legends-Vestal and Jake.

I think of George Jones' country song"Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?"

Jake (and Vestal) will be missed!

This was another very sad loss! I knew he had been in bad health but your still shocked to lose those legends. I will miss him on the Gaither homecoming videos.

It is a shame to hear that he has passed away. He was the founder of one of my favorite groups, the Imperials.

He is singing the praises now! I bet he has a heck of a voice!
