That's cool, Joe. I'm not trying to look down on you for watching it. I used to love to read End Times fiction for the same reasons you watch(ed?) JVI's show. Like I said earlier, I think probably my perception has been colored by my experiences with my parents.

It just turns my stomach to watch ppl like my mom and dad glued to the TV, watching J&RVI. They gloat over the current events and use it to support thier view that Christ will come back tomorrow (or the very next day at most). They gloat when bad things happen in the world because God' is showering those ppl with His wrath and they deserve it (can anyone say, Jonah the prophet?). I know that they are not the only ones that do that, either. Maybe JVI doesn't gloat, but their show doesn't help things with ppl like my parents. I just stay as far away from him and his ilk as I possibly can. It saves me a lot of trouble.

My parents are fans of Benny Hinn and have had themselves ordained as healers. It's very hard to visit with them because they want to pray for me, and say I have little faith because I won't fall down on the floor.

We must pray for our parents that they may come to their senses.

Please keep my parents in your prayers and I will pray for yours.

P.S. Go to the Orthodox forum and add your parent's name and any other friends and relatives in the list of the living. See the STICKY lists. The prayers given are also used in the Eastern Catholic Churches - so they are valid.

Van Impe is not overtly anti-Catholic because he receives much of his monetary support from RC viewers, believe it or not. He dares not bad-mouth the RCC.

This despite the fact that Jack Van Impe is a Dispensationalist Premillenialist prophecy hawker.

Catholics who are sending him money are supporting his errors. If they stop, watch Jack turn.

Be careful not to read between the lines. We didn't say to support him, but just to engage him in a loving dialogue to help him on a trip back home to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Why don't you join us? Shouldn't we love as Christ commanded.

My post was about Jack Van Impe and the reason why he is not as rabidly anti-Catholic as most of the other prophecy hawkers.

I was not addressing anything you or anyone else posted. I was addressing myself to the topic.

Of course, we should love all people and pray for them. Who said we should not?

Is it loving, however, to fail to mention their errors, thereby letting others fall prey to them?

No way should any Catholic, East or West, send money to the Van Impes.

I wholehearted agree with you. There is a difference between loving a person and supporting them.

I just want people to pray for his salvation - not send him money.
