Hi Guys,
I just returned from the neighborhood pizza place. I haven't had pizza in a really long time and I love the Italian men that run the place. It's an elderly Italian father and his three adult sons. They are really nice people.
Years ago and before I had become regenerate one of the sons mentioned to me that his Dad was illiterate. I always thought about how resourceful he must be to get around in life and I also thought about all the years I had labored in vain acquiring voluminous amounts of education which often served to divert me even further away from God at times when I was desperately seeking to find truth. And I thought how maybe he had been spared a lot of nonsense by being illiterate?
So today when I was getting my pizza I asked the son about his Dad and he told me he was retired . And I immediately thought that he should consider getting his Dad an gift of an audio book of the Bible ( thinking to myself that because they are Catholic and he is illiterate then presumably it might be of some interest? ) Because I reasoned that sometimes when people get older some of them tend to begin wondering about God.
Well...the man looked at me as if he saw an complete alien. lol I guess it didn't register in his wildest imagination that his father might appreciate such an item? And when I saw the puzzled look on his face I explained a bit more. And then he said ..."Yeah...that really *is* a very nice idea.". And he seemed to genuinely think it was. But the whole mention of it took him so off guard that you would think I had mentioned something completely bizarre. And when i left the store I realized how out of touch I am with reality because God is on my mind 24/7. And I tend to forget that there's a whole big world out there who couldn't care less about God.
I would LOVE to hear your stories about being foreigners in this world and how it is for you to be in the world but not of the world.
Thanks for listening.
