  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've got a problem... again ._.

Okay... so I guess some of you already know about my 'friend' problem.. meh

Okay, I have to tell you and ask for advice... so I don't have any friends at school, and here's why. First, they all are obsessed with that not-christian band, "muse" and I really don't like it, I don't find it... helping my relationship with God in any way. Also, that kid who everyone thinks is my brother is just... duno, should I say selfish? I mean his friend, Danny always defends him while he's in trouble if someone nags him or such, but when people call Danny names and hit him, that kid don't give a fudge >_> he just listens to his headphones without caring about anyone else, and... well, other guy is just too... annoying, he keps poking others or such, other guy is too emo for me and other guy acts like he's a litltle 12 yo kid... what should I do? no one is... my friend >_>

Well, that's the way it's always been for me, I've never been able to fit in, because I don't go with the flow. Haha, and I know what you mean by Muse. I think they're a pretty talented band though, and I can stand to listen to their music, but I usually don't listen to it by choice. However, unless they are singing about something immoral, it's not like it is going to harm your relationship with G-d. I listen to non-Christian music more than I listen to Christian music, and I feel like sometimes it actually brings me closer to G-d, because what I listen to to usually has to deal with weighty issues in the world, and it gets me thinking.
But, just because everyone likes them, and you don't, isn't a problem. Everyone should have their own likes and dislikes, and the fact that most of the kids at your school all like just one band, probably means they just like the band to fit in. Go against the flow, be yourself, be the person G-d made you as.
Then, about all the friendship drama and stuff... Well, it's school, full of teenagers, it will be dramatic. It always will be. Even in high school, the drama is extreme. Kids will be kids, and drama follows us kids around like a zombie follows a person with brains... Haha, so you will have to get used to it, it'll calm down as people get older though, because the hormones start to wear off.

I'd say a good way to remedy your friend problem is to get very involved in your school through various clubs, societies, and sports. Through those things you spend a lot of time with other people, and you can begin to form a lot of good friendships. Friendships can really spring up from anywhere, and I don't think you have to hang out with those guys you mentioned. Just keep turning over more rocks and you'll find a wealth of frienships, it just takes time and effort, honestly. But don't ever forfeit your own personality and likes just to conform and be accepted.

How can you only enjoy something if it helps your relationship with God? As far as I am aware, the bible only tells you not to sin, not to pray constantly. Expanding your horizons is important, and needed if you want to increase the size of your social circle.

Okay, so your current 'friends' are absolute douches. Let's get that straight right here and now.

meet more people. Go out. If there's word around about a large social gathering, attend. If you don't want to drink or something like that, it's okay. Just don't.

But be there. Meet people. Live.

I'm not Christian...So hopefully they understand me wanting to help (I am not trolling just helping). Anyways, first the music part doesn't matter. So what they aren't christian. It is music, ways of expression (Marilyn Manson=WIN) Be friends with people is simple. JOIN A CLUB YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!! It is the best thing to do! Hopefully I helped! Happy Turkey Day.
