I think they do a lot of good, though I'm not a member. I do donate there, as well as buying work clothes there. I know the one near me hires recovering addicts, etc, and puts them back on a good path.

I admire them too and wish there was a Salvation Army church near where I live because I'd like to check it out. The closest one is 62 miles away. I love their charity work and their soundcast as well. HEARTBEAT — Soundcast

There is one in the city where I live. Our paths intersect often because of our shared interest in helping the poor and homeless.
Like any group, there are good officers and bad officers. Thankfully, of the many officers I've met over the years, I've only encountered one bad one. Thankfully, his successor turned out to be a great one; otherwise the bad one might have permanently burned bridges between my organization and the Army.
