I was wondering have any of you read Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott or any of Sigrid Undset's books. I was told by somebody yesterday that they are worth a read.

Is it easy to read? One thing I can't stand is trying to understand what an author is trying to say. If the writing is anything like Beowulf, I'll just read the cliff notes.faerieeva said:I've read Ivanhoe and loved it. It's a classic in which myth has been woven through history, the way Dumas also does it. I loved the book even more than the movie. *L*

The latest version of the Three Musketeers, not the Sting, Bryan Adams, and Rod Stewart theme song one.faerieeva said:*laughs* Anyone who loves Asterix and Obelix has great taste! "Weird guys those romans"
PP: what movie do you speak of? There are several, I believe I will confess to having enjoyed 'the man in the iron masque', despite the horrendous storyline and film making flaws in it. (And no... I never had a crush on Dicaprio. *L*)

You know, "The Man in the Iron Mask" is my favourite classic and I thought they didn't do such a good job in it. The torture and solitude was not portrayed the way I would have liked.
P2bc, another classic is Tin Tin.
