• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's a funny thing

I'm sorry you feel lost. Do you feel overwhelmed when caring for others? I sometimes feel overwhelmed by their problems and mine all rolled up into one.

A student at 31 doesn't seem like that bad a choice. Are you sure you are looking at this objectively? Your posts always seem clear and well thought out. It seems to me that being at school is a good place for you.

I knew, that if I spent time, caring for others, I'd lose my own way.
A student, at 31? What was I thinking?
Not really bright on my part.
Have a good one my friends. I'll let you know about my failure.

Hey Spdnet  !

Re: Caring for others...do you empathize with others deeply? I find this can be very exhausting :sigh: It is very hard for me not to empathize with others, I feel so overwhelmed at times with other peoples suffering. :( As is stated in the earlier posts, your support and encouragement on this site is a HUGE blessing!

A student at 31...your a "baby"...I went back to school 2 years ago at the age of 41! Yes it was alot of work... but I sure wouldn't change it :D I think it was brillant on your part, I just think of all the people you could touch with your caring personality!

You have a "good one" also Stephan!! I look forward to hearing about your SUCCESS !!!

 s & :prayer: s,
Wendy

Ps. Just added you to my prayer list Stephan!

Our dear Stephen, you are such a blessing and for you to be a student at 31 I feel is a great thing. You never get to old to learn, and besides, you're still a sprout! You are at least doing something that I haven't had the guts to do. I just know you're going to be great!
Hang in there buddy, we're all routing for you here and we're here when you need us!
I'm sure I speak for others when I say that you are an inspiration and I personally made it through a very rough episode, and you my dear friend helped make that happen.
You are in our prayers and we love you buddy!
:hug:'s and :angel::kiss:es!!

I honestly don't think your age means anything. Your doing your best to get whats rightfully yours and thats either an AA,AS,BA, or BS. I'll be honest, I'm a college dropout and thats primarily because I wasn't focused enough to be in college and I began developing my soon to be discovered bipolar disorder. I had no idea I had it all along and well I blew my opportunity. Despite this, I'm not going to give up just because I failed once, I will pick myself up and return to school on my own. It definitely will not be an easy task, but be 23,25 or even 31.. whatever age I get back into school or finish my degree up, I'll never give up on my dreams and you shouldn't either my friend !! GOD BLESS YOU and never give up your hopes.

I posted in the thirty something area that I am going back to school at age 33. I start today (sorta, today is an orientation but it's going to a couple of hours, and I have to take a test tomorrow night and a CPR class all day on Saturday, so I considered today my start day although classes don't really officially start until August 28th). I am going to nursing school. Some people in my life have said that I am too old to be going back to school, but sometimes I think people can want to keep us down in the dumps with them. As long as we are living and breathing we can learn and grow and better ourselves!

If we think we are going to be failures, then we will probably fulfill our own prophecy. Believe in yourself. Pray for the strength to carry on during the difficult times!

I know that I can put myself down a lot, so sometimes I need others to help build me up. You can do whatever you set your mind to!!!

If you need to vent about school or life or whatever, you can private message me - I will probably be ready with something to vent about myself!

We can do this!!!! :groupray:

I didn't realize, how much my family and friends, have counted upon me, until, I decided to concentrate on me.

As it turns out, I have to deal, with both.

It's ok, I'm Superman.

Who cares if I'm afraid? Why should I? I could start drinking again and die in six months.

It isn't easy, being the only handy and Heterosexual man, in my world.

Thank you all, for having your say. I keep coming back because I think that I must be doing some of the right things.

Got a real match tomorrow. Protecting, My Sister and her 13 month old baby, from a massive colony of Honey Bees. I've got a plan though.

Spdnet:

You have lots of pressure on you to be strong and it must be overwhelming. To tackle honey bees must be one thing on top of all the others that you have to deal with. But you don't have to be Superman, you can rely on God. The other thing is that you don't have to pretend you are strong in front of everyone. You can tackle the bees problem but you don't have to pretend that you are unafraid.

Praying for you.

Hey Stephan....

Can I relate...here it is from the other side...

I am SuperMom, SuperWife, SuperBigSis, SuperLittleSis, SuperFriend and I think I may have left some Super's out. It isn't easy being the only female in a house of 3 men plus a 'demanding' male dog!

We both know drinking is NOT the answer...although on a bad day it sure is tempting! (got to be honest :sigh: it's the only way to go, honesty that is)

I care (and I know others here do too) if you're afraid!
My :prayer: s for you continue...you know Who wins in the end

 's & :prayer: 's,
Wendy

Thank you all, for responding at a difficult time.

The world is a funny place. One for which I seem to keep showing up for, unprepared.

I've been troubleshooting for longer than I care to think about.

I'll find a way, with continued support from all of you!

Thanks so much.

(Please note, as with a spectacular offer, my mood is subject to change at any time.)

Stephen
