I work at a hotel in Dallas Texas. I am the evening front desk clerk and have a bit of a reputation as a go getter. I take my work very seriously and try to help the guests of my hotel as much as I can. This means anything from taking a mini fridge up to a room or just letting them store leftovers in the employee fridge. I also make cookies of an evening as a bit of a welcomer and to make people feel at home. While I have down time behind the counter I usually do a Bible study. Well, a couple of days ago a lady came to the desk for a cookie. She is a lady who has lived a long life and now has grown children and teenage grandchildren. When she got her cookie I saw that she was carrying her Bible. Just to make friendly conversation I asked if she was doing a Bible study. From there the conversation grew. She told me that she was from just outside of Houston and I mentioned that I have family there in Spring. She looked at me as tears filled her eyes and said, "Are you the granddaughter of Richard and Betsy." My reply was yes and she went on to tell me that she attends the same church as my grandparents. She is up in Dallas because she has a son with a drug problem and she is trying to get him into a rehab center here. She told me that she had been praying for a sign to show her that Dallas was the right place, and I was that sign for her.
Her situation is a very hard one to deal with. I felt so reassured in my newly found faith after this day. I just wanted to shout to the whole hotel, and tell them all just how awesome God is. And always remember God is going to lead us to serve Him. We may be helping ourselves. or others but it is all a wonderful feeling.
