  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

it seems like creationists arn't looking 4 the truth

You do know that there are other languages in the world than English, right?

If I don't understand them they might as well be gibberish. (My comment was meant to be funny, not to deprecate the French language.)

It's gibberish in the same way that Latin was 'Greek to me' in high school. :p

Well it's 50+ years later, and they've got these wonderful devices called computers, One of the neat features of them is they can translate languages for you.

So while 50+ years ago you couldn't copy & paste a post into a universal translator and get a semi valid translation, you can do that now.

I spent an hour doing just that with one of my Latino tenants one time. It didn't work very well. Finally the young daughter of another Latino family acted as translator for us. The kids seems to pick up English pretty easily. Not so their parents.

Another Latino tenant (of eleven years) took English language classes every week for ten years. After all that time he was as hard to understand as he was the first time I met him. Most of my adult Latino tenants had no desire to learn English at all, relying on their kids to translate when needed.

Maybe we should have used French as a 'bridge' language. ^_^
