How would you feel if your Pastor or some deacons had facial hair? I have come across some churches and ministries that would not allow their leaders (or in the case of a para-church ministry) and members to have facial hair, not even the women;) . Even a Bible College I looked at eons ago said that I would have had to shave before I could attend. I didn't understand then and still don't:scratch: . Is it just a cultrual thing? I am 99.99999999999999% sure there is no prohibition in the Bible for a Pastor or whatever to have a beard. This just occured to me and since we have a diverse group even within the Baptist/Anabaptist forum I thought someone could clear this up for me. I haven't even thought to ask about this at church yet:doh:, but I will this Sunday.

Nope nothing wrong with a beard. Would be a cultrual thing if a Church forbids it. However if you belong to that Church you would need to abide by their ruling.

Well, there are some Anabaptist groups who wouldn't have a pastor without facial hair. ;)

My Pastor has a mustache - that heritic may he be excommunicated! :liturgy: :priest:

In all seriousness I think its fine, Moody Bible has this requirement. The only time you can grow one is on breaks otherwise you must shave everyday. Though I can see where it might be a problem if you look like a hobo and are shaggy while you preach. Does the good Lord care? Probably not - but we do!

never in my church has facial hair been an issue for staff, deacons etc, in fact quite a few of the deacons and some of the staff have a beard for a month or so (or longer in some cases) until christmas if we are putting on a christmas program (i attend a very large church, our christman and easter programs are well known locally, and popular) because they all have to grow full beards to play parts in them. If its a program where there are group scenes, there are beards everywhere lol
