It Is Finished

Just wanted to share this:

“IT IS FINISHED”

On the night before He was crucified, Jesus withdrew with his disciples to a private place of prayer. There He agonized in prayer as He accepted on Himself the sins of the world.

“Father, if You are willing,” He prayed, “take this cup from me; yet not my will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42, NIV)

Now as you know blood was necessary for the remission of a mans/womans sins.
“And according to the Law almost all things are purified by blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” (Heb. 9:22; NKJV)

You know of the arrest and the trial.. And after Pilate washed his hands, he ordered the soldiers to strip Jesus of His clothing, beat Him with a cat-of-nine-tails whip tipped with bon, metal, and lead balls. Many men died under the severity of this kind of scourging. Often, the victims eyes were knocked out, ribs were broken, and the stomach ripped open. The blood of Jesus ran down to the pavement – the blood without which there is no forgiveness.
They crowned Him with a crown of thorns and beat it down into the flesh of His head with a reed. The blood flowed out and matted His face and beard. They put on Him a scarlet robe, placed a reed in His hand, and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” (Matt. 27:29; NKJV)
They placed the beam of the cross on His back and led Him away to be crucified. Exhausted from all that had transpired, Jesus stumbled under the weight of the cross. At that point, they hailed a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, and made him bear the cross. Making their way up the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha, the hill of the skull, they crucified Jesus where common criminals were executed.

The soldiers threw Jesus to the ground and stretched out His arms on the beam of the cross. One of them pounded spikes through the palms of His hands, then through His feet, fastening Him to the cross. They lifted up the cross and, with a thud, dropped it into the hole, tearing Jesus’ soft flesh. “And sitting down they watched Him there” (Matt. 27:36; KJV). Like uncivilized savages, these doctors of law and philosophy – religious and political leaders – watched with sadistic glee, even joining the crowd in mocking Him.

Looking down from the cross, His voice breaking with agony, Jesus cried, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34; KJV)

The sun refused to shine on that hideous scene on Calvary. Suddenly at about noon, Jesus’ horrifying cry pierced the darkness, “ Eli, Eli,lama sabachthani?!?” that is , “My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matt. 27:46; NKJV)
At that moment God did a miracle. He reached out into all of time to bring together ALL the sin of ALL humanity and concentrate ALL of our guilt into the body of Jesus. On the cross, the One who knew no sin became sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21;)
Jesus, who had never sinned, suddenly felt the combined intensity of ALL the guilt of ALL sin of ALL time. God, who cannot look upon sin, withdrew from His own Son. For the first time in all eternity, the Son was separated from the Father. Our sin killed Him!!

Just before He died, Jesus cried out, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) THIS WAS NOT THE DEFEATED CRY OF A MAN FACING THE DISMAL END. NO. IT WAS A SHOUT OF TRIUMPH!!!. He had accomplished that for which He had come into the world.

The sin debt was…PAID IN FULL.

Glory to our Lord and Saviour!!!

Jesus most certainly suffered much for our sins, and paid the price for us all. Thank you for bringing to light how much he actually suffered. And the extent of what He went through for us. I can't help but think about how painful it must have been to have the scarlet robe they placed on Him be torn off his flesh. When you think about how it must have became adhered to his opened wounds after wearing it, only to be torn off again.

If only more people could understand how much Jesus realy did suffer, and He took this all on himself out of Love for us all.

Yah know.. something one of Our Pastor said the other night was that God being who he is.. came to earth as man not only for we hear so much about.. but also to know our pain's as a human being that he created.
That got me to thinking and I've never thought about it quite like that.
And now JourneyFaith posted what he did.. says the same thing.
Jesus was God and yet.. Jesus felt Pain..
Powerful statement.
Not meaning to take away from the OP... someone care to comment? If we need to open another thread on that.. then just say so.
