It feels like I'm two different people?

The thing is when I'm at home or in a comfortable environment, I feel really relaxed and close to God - it's a lot easier to pray and talk to Him. However when I'm around my friends and peers, all the encouragement and uplifting feelings I'd felt the night before when praying seem to fade away and I feel kind of distant from God. And whenever I make the effort to stand up for my faith and not do something I know He'd disapprove of, it always feels so hard and awkward. It always so much easier to follow along with the crowd and give in.

I really don't like this feeling of being fickle towards my faith and want it to shine through my life when I'm around other people. Has anyone got any advice? :)

First of all, I'd like to welcome you to the forum!

In response to your post, I think it's just the nature of peer pressure.

Coming from my own experience, my advice would be to take advantage of peer pressure by spending more time with groups of people your age who are Christians. Doing so will provide more encouragement for you, and it will help you keep things in perspective when you're with non-Christian peers. Just from what you have stated here, you sound like a wonderful Christian girl. I'm sure there are other Christians around you who would love to hang out with you.

Just remember that we're all in the same boat!

You'll be in my prayers; God bless.

Definitely seek out some Christian friends who can back you up and build you up. get an accountability partner with whom you can each pour into each other and build each other up in Christ(make sure its the same gender, or drama will kill it).

Anywho, thanks for joining and have fun!

Thank you very much for your reply :)
In fact, part of the reason I searched around for this forum was exactly that; to encourage and surround myself with other like-minded Christians. So far it's been really encouraging reading about other people's experiences and I hope to stick around for a while!

Thanks, that's good advice. Taking note of what you've said, I think one of my Christian friends might be good to open up with more together. Will be giving that a try :)

Only weak minded people give into "peer pressure".

Well that sure was a helpful post(epic sarcasm BTW). Care to give some advice rather than an assertion on the person's intelligence?
