  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Issues in Scienceville.

When most people in this forums refer to Creationism, we're talking about the belief that the Earth is about 6,000 years old, that humans did not evolve from other animals, etc.
Isn't that YECism?

Post 503:

I see.

Well in that case, theistic evolutionists are creationists.

Post 463:

Now, there are some creationists who love to (in fact, can do very little but) play games with semantics and defintions, and claim that since you believe that God created, you're a creationist. Some of them go even further and say that since everyone believed that the world was created (a hard fact to dispute, since we're all currently standing on it) that everyone is a "creationist."

This serves no purpose, of course, except to give creationists an artificial sense of validity by inflating their perceived ranks. It sounds pathetic, because it is, as you will see when you encounter creationists who employ such petty semantics -- assuming you haven't already.

Prophecy?
An astute knowledge of human nature?
Or just experience seeing the same old dreck over and over?

You make the call, folks.

Prophecy?
Nope. "Everyone" is not a theistic evolutionist. False prophet.

Then, maybe people should just use the definitions and we can stop bickering about meanings of words.

So, recap why this tangent in the discussion started: Why are Christian Colleges not producing data or evidence that corroborates the idea that a God created the universe, created life, created the world around 6,000 years ago, or had a guiding hand in evolution?

Hey Jack can you tell me who gets to decide when they are more literal than poetic or vice versa? The scientists or Jesus?

He believed that God created Adam and Eve male and female from the beginning. That rules out common descent. He believed in Noah and the ark. That kind of overrules what todays geologists are trying to tell us. I go with Jesus every time. If science doesn't agree then science is wrong and hopefully one day will find (or allow) the truth.

I don't think the Bible should be read as a scientific journal either. God forbid, that I would have to depend upon scientific journals for eternal life. They deny the very existence of God by denying that God made man in HIS image and likeness and not out of chimpanzee. (Don't you see the irony in that? Straight from the pit of hell) Also, they deny the existence of God in the Big Bang theory. No you can't serve two masters, either you will love the one and hate the other or hate the one and love the other. I choose God. Man does not live by bread alone but by EVERY word that proceeds out of His mouth from Genesis to Revelation. If you can't talk it for what it says in every place then you can't take any of it. Then it IS only subject to man's interpretation.

Do tell, oh mighty prophetess Inan3. Is there any other knowledge of the thoughts of God you wish to impart to us mere mortals? Perhaps you could let us know his thoughts on the mid east peace process? Or perhaps how he feels we should solve out energy crises?

A pity you couldn't refute me without misrepresenting my words -- a completely expected pity, but a pity nonetheless.

Or are you going to pretend there's a reason that you decided to ignore "Now, there are some creationists who love to (in fact, can do very little but) play games with semantics and defintions, and claim that since you believe that God created, you're a creationist"

Don't need to be a prophetess to read. Can you do that?

Let me kill two birds with one stone here. Possibly because, just as there are an undeterminate amount of contrary or alternate definintions in the field of science compared to the REAL world, and we have to look them all up (eyes roll as I hear "waaaa") so are there are that many versions of the meaning of "Christian" as compared to what the Bible (which originated the term) says a Christian is. \

In other words, there ARE so called Christian colleges that don't even believe what the Bible says and IT IS the BIBLE that tells us that God created the universe, created life, created the world.

Hello... is that so hard to understand. NOOOOO but you don't want to hear that for a reason. You want us to say, "well duh that's because there is no evidence." We are NOT going to say that because there IS evidence. NOT the evidence YOU want but we don't live our lives or have our beliefs based on what YOU want or science wants etc. YOU don't get it and you never will in your present state.

Now I will probably hear how HOLLOW my evangelizing is and it's all because of me that YOU guys don't become Christians. Ya Right!!!

^_^ -- Good one, sis!

I was about to make some comment about "Straight Street" in Acts 9:11, but after thinking about your answer a moment, it dawned on me -- 'return address'!

Very good!

Yes, that post is actually kind of hard to understand. You're all over the place with your sentences and I can't make head nor tail of the first half of what you wrote.

But as for the 2nd half, I find it sad that there are so many people in the world that think like that. That have such light standards of evidence that they will believe whatever someone tells them for virtually no good reason. And not only that, but that they even somehow convince themselves and each that it is a good thing.

Do you not care whether your beliefs are true or not?

Would you have taken Thalidomide back in the '60s, if you were a pregnant female?

First of all mathclub... who asked you? There... can you understand that? Let me make it VERY clear to you. Now read slowly... I - don't - care - what - you - think. Clear enough?? It usually takes me a while to put some of you on ignore but you caught me in just the right place so in your case I'll go right there. You want to talk to me keep your little punk attitude to yourself. Make heads or tails out of that why don't you.

Temper, temper.
