Israel: Global Jihad Linked to Flotilla « Liveshots

It's known the flotilla of 6 ships was in part organized by the IHH group in Turkey, which reportedly has links to Al Qaeda. And three members of Yemen's Parliament, from the Islah Party, were also among the more than 600 activists detained by Israel after ships refused to stop for Israeli patrol boats and were boarded by Israeli Navy SEALs who eventually opened fire, killing 9 people. The Islah party is also said to have shadowy links to Al Qaeda. Both groups certainly support the Hamas organization in Gaza.

This description would fit the video Israel released.
The ships attempted to run the bloackade, Israel's SEAL teams boarded the ship, the crew attacked the SEAL's with metal pipes, and threw at least one SEAL overbaord.
The SEAL's were outnumbered and being attacked with deadly weapons,
finally they opened fire on their attackers.

IMO the SEALs did what they had too.
I believe if the ships had allowed their vessel to be searched, they would have been able to enter without any violence.
The people on the ship escalated the situation and the deaths were caused by this.

Of course, the vastly outnumbered SEAL's could have climbed on the ships and started beating the crew, but I doubt they would be that stupid, and if they were beating the crew there would be no reason to allow the crew to beat on them, before opening fire.

The people on the flotilla seem to be the aggessors here.

Israel has reduced the number of rocket attacks into its country since the blockade was placed. IF this flotilla had been allowed to enter unchecked, the next one would have been loaded with weapons of war.

If they want to bring relief supplies to Gaza, simply have inspectors check the ship before it is allowed to pass. I believe the UN offers this inspection, so that possible violence might be averted.(Israel hatred and MUslim hatred for the other)
Violent prone GAZA strip does not need to be supplied with weapons.

The ship was in international waters and they had no right to board the ships that is called piracy. Now if they were in Israeli waters it would be a different story. They should have not even done this. In the long run it gives Israel a bigger black on on its self.

They can search for weapons, they fact there isnt any still doesnt mean anything, how could they know?, im sorry, but if a ship was heading to sepretists behind a blockade, id consider it likely to prehaps smuggle weapons. So id want to check

Also regardless of international waters, the flotilla stated and were heading for Israel, I tihnk the plan is to stop them before they get with the borders of a nation

the Commandos over reacted, they should have also had non lethel riot gear, but the protesters should not attack officials controlling what enters their borders or safeguarding those who might supply their enemies

Wrong.

Wow, how much longer will people keep parroting this line despite the lack of truth to it?

SECTION V : NEUTRAL MERCHANT VESSELS AND CIVIL AIRCRAFT

Neutral merchant vessels

67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:

(a) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;

I disagree from what I have seen the commandos didn't over react the military should have taken a larger force to board the ship given the number of protestors but if the commandos hadn't opened fire when they did they wouldn't have gotten out alive.

Actually, Israel had no right to board the ship while it was still in international waters. If Israel has that right, then so should the Palestinians to board any ship that they think might be headed to Israel with arms. I'm sure that none of you would have any problems with this, correct?

Of course Israel is going to argue what they did. However, if it is true, how come no proof of that has been shown in the last two days? If it is true, why is only the Israel press talking about it?

Are you saying that the Israelis doctored the video tape of them being attacked?

The videos I have seen, both the Israeli and activist’s ones do not show any grenades or shooting by the Israelis first. They show the ‘peace activists’ attacking and clubbing them with intent to kill.
For me the issue is the Israeli soldiers should not have shot people there is no need, they could have used tazers and tear gas.
Nor do I think Israel was right to board in International waters.
But I am not prepared to criticise Israel alone when the Hamas Palestinian government is a terrorist organisation. The international community seems to be doing this.
Even in recent history one might question whether the Palestine state is even supposed to be Israel. Most of this land for much of history has been a desert, but if we accept the current situation, Israel must lift its blockade and recognise Palestine and Palestine must recognise Israel and stop the rocket attacks.
Sadly, following the last Israeli insurgence and ceasfire the rocket attacks continued unababted.
