You don't have to apologize -- and I don't think it's really alarmist. If a person owns and runs a forum, they do whatever it is they do with it. I'm likely an eventual target in CF's "cleansing" as I am a pantelist Christian (i.e. "very unorthdox"). And that's fine; I won't fall apart if it happens; I gots me my own forum (that's sleeping quietly at the moment, but I love playing with the color scheme, etc, LOL!).

It's true that one man owns the forum and can do what he likes with it. This has always been true, though it remains to be seen what this particular man intends to do. Nothing is over until it is over, and there is always room for hope and the work of the Spirit.

Bannishing non-Christians in the name of beliefs is wrong and should be questioned... What will non-Christians think if we go along with this with a giant okay and thumbs up????.

Reading back what I wrote, I think you misunderstood. I said if people aren't happy they should go elsewhere. I didn't mean away from CF. I meant WITHIN CF. I think CF is already doing a pretty good job of giving all of us a place to speak and it drives me crazy when people complain about how horrible a particular area is. Find another...WITHIN CF.

I'm in no way for bannishing anyone!

This actually makes me want to cry. I'm terribly sad to see that, despite the majority here being against such a change, this is the direction the site will be going in. Lee is going to be in for a rude awakening if he feels these changes will be more profitable for him and his company.

I'm sorry, but that's a total crock and at this point I almost don't care if I get banned for speaking my mind. It's deplorable for one person to guilt or scare people into blind submission. It's shameful that if a Christian member here is against this "vision" they may begin to doubt their faith because they've been told that being against such an idea is basically working against God.

Could you folks please take a deep breath and lighten up on the Fundy-bashing? I've spent most of my 29 years of Christianity among Fundies, and most of them do not fit the characterizations (caricatures?) you are presenting.

I can only go by personal experience. I've met many Fundies since I met my husband. There are nine of them that I can think of off of the top of my head. I am very tolerant of them (except for the one who just went to prison for child abduction and rape) and all of the intolerance has been directed at myself and my children because over the past eleven years they have found out that I am a Democrat, my twelve year old loves Harry Potter books, I believe in global warming, I am pro-choice, I think George Bush is intellectually challenged, I don't abhor homosexuals, I approve of gay marriage, I think the war in Iraq is WRONG, I believe in the theory of evolution, I attend a UCC church, and I respect faiths other than Christianity, etc.

Each time that they have gleaned a new tidbit of information about my beliefs, they warn me or my husband that my walk with Jesus is not right, that I have a "black" heart and that I am probably going to hell. I don't have respect for people who tell other people that they are going to hell. That is something that they can not know, and to tell you the truth, I wouldn't be so bold as to go around saying who I think is going to hell. There is only One who can know this.

I know some "super cool" conservative Christians who respect me for who I am and I respect them. They love me for who I am and have NEVER told me that I have a black heart and that I am going to hell. I've never met a "super cool" Fundy who respects the thoughts and beliefs of others. "Fundy" is not a positive term in my mind.

How's your Pennsylvania Dutch? "Throw daddy downstairs his hat."

Y'know, we don't actually hear a lot of that around here. Maybe hear more of it up in Amish country, 20 miles or so to the north. Also maybe over in the Johnstown area, where I had some Mennonite relatives in my youth. (I think that branch of the family is Methodist now.)

Back when I was a kid, I think some of the older relatives used to say, "Close the light" or "Shut the light." I don't know of those were PA-Dutchisms or not. My maternal g'parents said, "Outen the light" or "Make out the light"; they were immigrants from Transylvania.

I don't think I was or am "fighting." But I found it surprising, disappointing, and ironic to see several of the "everyone is welcome here" people essentially saying "Fundy is the root of all evil." I didn't and don't think a polite request for restraint constituted "fighting."

Yes, I do realize some Fundies are wackos. I've met a *few* like that IRL. I've met more online, but still don't find them the majority. I'm sorry the experience of GGK and others has been otherwise, but I'm not inclined to silently accept that negative view being regarded as the norm.

Yep. That would probably have prevented my post and all the vicious confrontational fundyhood it embodied.

There is no biblical authority to state that speaking against LeeD is unbiblical. This is a discussion board not a church, it can never be a church. Moreover Lee is not a pastor / priest / bishop. I can and will speak against injustice when I see it.

Hi Kiwi,

I'm really glad to see you're still active.

You are speaking the truth, my friend. I think you and I are on the same page.

That request (post #26) struck me as entirely reasonable. I'm with you on that. I think Kelli overreacted, but your reply to her (post #30) seemed to me unnecessarily blunt and confrontational.

I love you both.

I agree.

Regarding the reported "direction" of the site -- Anyone else here have much familiarity with CARM? This sounds like Ecc. 1:9.

"It's deja vu all over again." (Yogi Berra translation)
I visited just long enough to learn I don't at all care for the place.

True. It's basically a re-packaging of the modern-day Super Apostles' favorite phrase: "Touch not God's anointed", which is designed to leave the impression that opposing them is tantamount to opposing God.

In such an instance, I am so not going to touch the Kool Aid!

LeeD BOUGHT this position of biblical authority.

Dare we call it simony?
