I feel so bad for those who don't even have A religion. They have no hope, faith, or love.
The beauty and the JOY of being a born again believer is that its NOT any religion........its not about a religion, its about a person.
And his name is JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my daily reading I was in daniel Chapter 10.
Daniel writes about how he was so speechless and without strength. All God had to do was touch him, and instantly daniel had strength. Does anyone believe that God touches them? Seriously.........I think God touches us all the time and we just don't pay attention. When was the last time God touched you and you said THANKS??????
Praise the Lord, for his promises are TRUE!!!!!!!

Hey, it's the active-positive people of this world who get things done, not the passive-negative people. By focussing only on the sad truth that some are perishing, and refusing to rejoice in our salvation, not only are we not following the instructions of God, but we are presenting a dour, unhappy, negative face for Christianity. We don't want them to think Christianity is about mourning, we want them to see it is about rejoicing in our salvation and our God!

I agree here!!! :) I was just presenting another side, not arguing with the OP (though it seems I did come across that way--sorry!). My friends all know me as a generally happy person. It is just that I have seen too many positive-passive people, and that isn't much better than negative-passive. Our faith must be an active one. I am active in ministry, it is just that so many aren't who could be; we are told to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest. We definitely don't want to have a gloomy Christianity, faith is not gloomy at all!!!--but at the same time what turns people off the most is seeing happy-go-lucky Christians who don't care enough about others. Cheerful and continually caring is the balance. :)

I will start another thread here on OSAS.

Curiously, I've never "known" anything of the sort. I have hope, not knowledge; faith, not certainty. I see through a glass, darkly. But faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I do not know what will happen, but I will trust God. I do not need to speculate about my future to be joyful; my cup runneth over, today. Here and now, this creation is indeed Good. I cannot describe what a Heaven would be like that would make it "better" than this; I will leave the future to God, and celebrate creation as I encounter it.

Seebs,
You can have enough faith to KNOW. You realize that? I mean to truley believe what his word says.......is to KNOW!
Don't HOPE, KNOW that His word is TRUTH and he ALWAYS fullfills His promises!
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we're just too different to communicate. I don't think you're hearing what I'm saying, and I am not entirely sure what you're saying.

The Bible teaches that we have faith, hope, and love. Faith and hope are not certainty; they are belief without certainty.

I know many people who claim certainty. I know enough of them that they don't all agree on the things they say they are certain about. So, I can say pretty confidently that some people who are totally certain are also wrong. Given that, even when I feel certain, I don't claim certainty; after all, some people who feel at least as strongly as I do disagree with me, so at least some people who feel the same strength of conviction that I do are wrong.

It's all good.

It's really a matter of changing over from hope to belief. Even the weakest, lamest faith is better than the most joyful indifference.

I am pretty sure you are misunderstanding me. Obviously, I have belief, or I wouldn't be in the Congregation forums. I am obviously not indifferent, or I wouldn't spend as much time as I do contesting for the fiath. But... That's not "knowing".

I know that cats are quadrupeds. I know that fish swim. I believe in salvation. It's not the same kind of thing.

Faith is putting your trust in what God says. Belief in God is being convinced that HE is who he says he is and HE does what HE says he does. With that kinda faith/belief, one can have confidence in knowing because they trust God's word that they are going to heaven.
THAT is a wonderful thing. I understand what you are saying, do you understand me now? Or do I need to clarify?
If not..........then jump up and PRAISE THE LORD!

That is a great analogy and makes sense to me. What is faith?
  1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
  2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief. See Synonyms at trust.
  3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
  4. often Faith Christianity. The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.
  5. The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith.
  6. A set of principles or beliefs
Faith is a person's confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing (i.e. God).

Do we have 100% evidence that there is a God? No. This is where faith comes in. I have it ... the agnostic, atheist and other non-believers do not.

Seebs, I thinks this is what you are getting at. Correct?

I guess I'm probably not alone in this, but I can't wait to get to Heaven... But I want to have my life here first!!! I recently (last Saturday) got engaged, and I'm looking so very much forward to my new life with my new soon to be wife and possible family !!! But at the same time I want to go to heaven right now!!!
I want Jesus to come back, but I want to experience the joys of life first! I know that the joys of heaven will be so much more, and I wont be sad if Jesus took me now, but yeah, I guess many of you could probably relate to my predicament, as happy as it is!!!
