I have a beautiful white gold rosary, that's the only
piece of jewlery I wear now.

I'm having the crucifix changed into a plain cross

But it a rosary considered idolatry?
Thanks!
Andy

No, it isnt. A rosary is used to help you pray, or you can wear it as a symbol of your faith. There is nothing wrong with it. :)

Personally, I will sometimes wear my rosary for comfort when I'm going through something hard or am stressed or scared. Being able to feel something which I pray on gives me a physical reminder of God and brings me comfort.

I know that some people think that if you wear a rosary it shouldn't be explicitly displayed. I think that the important thing is that you wear it with the knowledge that it is something you pray on, rather than just a fashion accessory.

Right, I know that's what it's used for.
But I'm agianst some of the catholic ideas..
So I don't use it to pray, and I just wear it because it looks nice
and because it has a cross on it:)
thanks for the answers!

What about a saints bracelt.. Is that idolatry?

2Is wearing a Rosary Idolatry?

Yes it is. Remember the 2nd Commandment of GOD written by GOD, and GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever, GOD never changes! man changes.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.

How can you say you love GOD and not keep his Commandments?

What you said above makese sence, but,
Do we still follow the 10 commandments?

Nearly none of the christians follow the sabbath!

Are you trying to justify breaking any of the commandments???, see it one thing to do so and not be aware, but it is total arrogance to do it consciencely.

And as for the Sabbath, well a certain religion thought they would take it upon themselves and change that too, so arrogant.

No no, I'm looking for the truth!
That's why I came here and opened an account.
I know I am supposed to be humble, so I stopped wearing all the fancy jewlery and watches I have. The rosary, is the only thing I still do wear, and I NEVER pray with it, and i'm changing the crucifix into a plain cross. However I stll wasn't sure if the idea of a rosary is idolatry or not.

I myself am not even sure if Christians still do follow the 10 commandments or not, that's why I asked you. I'm a baby Christian, just got saved in May. But i have been doing Bible study ever since nearly every day.

So if you do think the rosary is idolatry, why do you think so?

Remember if you are going to try to live by the law.
Bible James 2:10 said:
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Your def right!

But you do think it's okay to wear both, rosary and saints braclet right?

If you don't idolize it, I see no problem with it.

Now it might be a stumbling block for others, and if you know it is, then don't where it around them & don't advertise that you do where it to them.

an idol is anything that you worship and adore in place of God. for some it's a car (mine was a yellow Prowler convertible) for some it's their job, even your own children can become an idol to you. it's not the object itself that's the idol but how you view it. i'd say wear it if you want to. JMO

if your referring to a new orleans saints bracelet then i would throw it in the garbage. j/k

For starters I'm not catholic, I would wear it as a reminder of The Blood so that you might not forget, and always remember this:

John 14:6
I am, the way, the truth and The Life, nobody (that means nobody, not my mother, trinkets, saints, nothing) comes to The Father but by me.

It's pointless to pray to anyone else, When Jesus said I am the only way.
He is The Mediator, he is The Lawyer, he is The I Am, All things and I realize I'll hear a lot of "yeah buts" and all it is, is denial The Scriptures don't lie, Holy Spirit inspired and God Breathed, Jesus is The WOrd Of The Livivng God.

John 1:1-2 In the begingng was The Word and The Word was with GOD and The Word was GOD.

Revelation 19:13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is The Word of God.

I live by The Holy Scriptures, not a religion, religion can't save you, Only Christ can, that's why he shed his blood for you on Calvary.

Blessed be The Holy Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
And Bless you Andy Loves Jesus, May The Mighty Hand Of The Father be Upon you, all the day's of your life.

To Jesus, All The Praise and all The Glory for no one else is Worthy, Worthy is The Lamb who was slain.

Thanks for the Friend Request.

While I disagree that wearing the rosary is absolutely idolatry, allow me to back up your point by saying this much:

It would be better to wear the rosary than to pray it.

Mary does not take us to Jesus. Jesus takes us to the Father by way of the cross, not by way of His earthly mother. Respect & honor the mother Mary, yes, but take care not to idolize her.
