I have been thinking about how films/ TV can lead us to wanting and enjoying things maybe we shouldn't.

Drama can make us enjoy seeing others sin (e.g. affairs, lies, betrayal...).
Science fiction can make us enjoy a future without God.
Action movies can make us hate characters and what them dead.
Horror can make us enjoy witchcraft and wickedness.
Etcetera...

What do you think about this?
Do you think it is different because it is all fiction or do you think it all the same to the heart?
Feel free to correct me as I think I can be overly cautious at times.

I'd say not. Once you choose to serve God and include His guidance
in your life, you can do that in church choir or where you work in
a brothel. God is concerned with you & Him having a relationship.
If you are chatting with Him about your heroin use or your use of
scripture or both, He is glad to meet you at any point in your life.
I've read some Science Fiction that honors God. But it doesn't
all have to for you to learn somehting about people.

Science fiction can make us enjoy a future without God.

As a Science Fiction fan I have thought this question through a number of times. I see nothing inherent in man achieving space flight, being able to travel to another star system, proclaiming or proving the absence of God. Seriously, what is all of that out there for if not for man to strive to reach?

The argument for a future without God predicated on man leaving Earth is typically founded on the Book of Revelations. In order for the apocalypse to occur man has to be bound to Earth. I don't believe God is that petty. I also don't believe he is limited to dealing with man only if they are bound to this planet. If we colonize Mars, or a planet in the Tau C system, we can still build the First Baptist Church of Mars.

I used to read David Wilkerson letters and they were really great but there is a side where he always said tv movies and all of that is from the devil. I just figured he was just an old fuddy duddy.
Now that I am older and wiser I see that Satans cronies own those industries and use subliminals on us. Plus all of that stuff is of the world and we should not be too connected to it.
Since I have got away from all of that my life is so much better!

If a piece of media makes us think sinful thoughts or even influence our actions then yes it is. I like to watch a lot of crazy things, but I draw the line and switch it off if it makes me dwell on bad things.
