Is violence in video/computer games compromising to the christian? I personly think that everything we have that we invite into lives should be under the microscope.

I ask this question because I have Halo 2 and I don't nessarily see anything wrong with it, but God had told me to cancel a Halo party that I organized. I figure violence is alright (explicit violence is in the bible) but murder is definetly not. Halo2 is a war game and I have yet to see any murder.

What do you guys say?

Well I don't see a problem, our youth group, the youth pastor, we all ordered halo 2 for youth group so we can play it, we have halo and halo 2 now, and THUG, and NFSU, and also a PS2 with some games, basically they don't accept anything with sexual violence (harassment, rape, prositution), so no GTA, and also no excessive cussing. I mean it can say a couple words but nothing extreme. So yeah game on

I think it's clearly a case of Christian liberty. I personally don't like most violent games. I can accept games in which there is some violence, but I don't like shooters; I like violence to be the result of choices within the game, and I like games where non-violence is an option. (e.g., the original Fallout, an incredibly violent game in which you could win the game without ever killing anyone!)

I am more tolerant of violence in RPGs, for whatever reason.
