The fact that something has once been associated with the occult doesn't mean it is banned from everyone forever. Also you in no way show that pot replaces God. I think that smoking cannabis isn't sinful per se, but that it can be if you can't control it. Addiction is a bad thing. Not every pot smoker is addicted though.

I don't like the way cannabis can alter your reasoning, so that's why I don't use it. If you use it, be very careful (don't drive, for example!), and use it in moderation. And also - but this is a purely personal reason - I really dislike the smell.

I agree with others that you should not break the law, unless the law is immoral. But it's not immoral to make cannabis illegal, and therefore you shouldn't use cannabis if you live in a country where it is illegal. As you can see I'm from the Netherlands and it's legal over here. Still I'm not a fan, except for medical reasons (cancer patients, but also certain forms of rheumatism, etc.).

I'm just making an example that if people go to pot to feel good before God then it's committing idolatry. Me sitting here on the internet all day that lets me feel pleased is committing idolatry (something I honestly need to work on).

I personally just do not understand how you can have self-control if you are "high." Please explain this to me.

I grew up with the conclusion that pot is bad and I've already explained that to everyone in my first post in this thread on page 2. I told everyone that I could be wrong and will admit it. I'm just here to gain knowledge and lay down my questions and my own beliefs so that we can find a conclusion together.

Right now I am still debating on whether it's wrong or not. I admit I hate the smell of it and would not ever want to be involved around it. So that probably influences my way of thinking.

Now on to a question I proposed earlier. What about the darkness/wordly aspect of pot? The world celebrates this stuff. A majority of college students seem to idolize it with their "legalize" slogans. What about being "witnesses" to the world? If we just go into smoking pot with the rest of the world and they see that, are we witnessing or just living like the rest of the world?

Now what about the "intoxication" aspect of it?
