  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

a few yrs ago we got a kitten from my sister... he was pretty smart.. it was just me and my husband.. and we had 2 cats... well we had a cat name tiger.. and we noticed we would hear a running water sound in the bathroom sometimes.. we never thought anything about it...he would sleep in the bed with us at night.. and he would get out of bed.. and go to the bathroom. tiger would..one day i was ceaning house..and went into the bathroom..and he was sitting on the commode..he actually was useing #1 on the commode..i about fainted.. i could not beleive it.. well i called my husband... at work and of corse he said i was crazy..lol so i said lets just watch and see... so it was a while...and tiger headed to the bathroom..and he did it ..we was being sneaky..for him not to see us.. my husband was shocked... so when my family came over i told them.. i said well let me sit him up here and see what he does... he would use #1 everytime... my whole family was amazed... so we was going to move to our new huose we bought... within 2 weeks... of moving he got hit by a car and died.. it was a tragic thing...he was so special and smart.. but i like to tell my story of him ... he was a amazing animal.

Yeah that's too bad that he died. :( Anyway, I have heard that you can train a cat to use the toilet like that but I have NEVER heard of a cat doing that without being trained! So cool! :D

you'd be surprised how inventive cats get! My cat sometimes decides she wants a change from the cat tray and will do it in the shower drainhole. She just squats and goes. Other times she'll decide to do it in the water bowl. We use a 4L icecream container so Cognac will balance on the sides with her back feet and go. You've never seen such balance! One day I'll have to take a picture because nobody believes it!

Talking about cars and cats, reminds me of a warning for you all. We had a cat who used to sleep on the engine. When starting cars in winter ALWAYS check your cat is not keeping warm on the engine. Our cat did that and while Dad was backing out she fell out onto the road and got run over. We didn't find out until after because we were inside asleep and Dad was driving. Cats get themselves into some strange situations!

Oh! Also reminds me of the German shepherd. He wanted to go but mum was in the middle of a chore she couldn't stop. So he went over to the cat tray and cocked his leg. He got every drip in it! I'm considering entering him into an aiming sport at the olympics!

bubblegirl thats ok.. lol i liked that story..and also thats good advice about the cats getting in ones engine to stay warm..
my cat tiger was never trained.. i never thought i cat would do that.. i always thought litter box and that was it.. like i said..i was cleaning..and went into the bathroom and he was on the potty doing his # 1 ..like i disturb him.. i about fainted ..and i think i even yelled.. lol looking back i see how amazing it was.. thats why i let all my family see it..to tell it.. you would never believe and until you seen it..
but i have lots of proof..lol he was so smart. he would get out of the bed... where we was sleeping and go to our sec bathroom next to our bedroom to potty. and my other cat..was a female..and her name was sissy..she was my baby.. and she had a litter of kittens with tiger..and i gave them all away.. before he died.. and i wish i could of kept the one that looked just like him. thats been along time ago.. now i have a son..hes 3 .. and he wants a puppy.. we would like to have a family dog.. a sheltie.. they seem like they are good with kids... thanks for all your post forgivenmuch

For kids I would suggest a Lhasa apso. I'm biased because of my 9mth old, but they are known to be gret with kids. There is no record of a Lhasa attacking an owner & they are onlyba foot high so won't squash your son. They have a long coat that doesn't drop on the furniture, but you can keep their coat quite short and it's fine. If you look up Lhasa on burkesbackyard.com.au you can get some idea of them and go on from there. If you want pics of one with short hair contact me with your email & I'll send pics. I'd certainly suggest something small with a 3 y-o however. You could let your kid help to brush the dog & feed it. Why not train 'em now (the kid & the dog)!
