Is This Message About Goths Accurate??

yes Holly, I happened to come across that site by chance last night when I was trying to find out how Goths originated - re ancient history. And it seemed to add up with the original post here.
I guess it just pays the younger ones today to be aware. was swayed to this thread as I've read Rebbecca Brown's books. Have you heard of them? But I've since heard that
she may have stretched the truth a bit.
Personally, I wear black quite alot! But I agree entirely with CJ. The wearing of black in mourning was done for centuries!
In today's world there is such a trend towards satanism and occultic things that very innocently our young ones could wear a very pretty wiccan pentagon necklace and just think it was beautiful without knowing they could attract a hoard of wiccans to their side. I must have a look at that site myself. My stepdaughter always wears black, wore black lipstick, got herself tatooed and she's well into her 30's.
What a crazy world.....

Actually, more than stretching the truth, Rebecca Brown later admitted that both of her books are total fiction. She said her idea was to do a book like Frank Peretti did with 'This Present Darkness' but, unlike him, she did not disclose that her books were fiction.

Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your child may have gone astray from the Lord.


-Frequently wears black clothing. Hello... I'm a priest

-Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. I have a silver 'apostles cross' and a St. Thomas More medallion

-Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos. I have a tattoo... although most people never see it.

-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. I 'associate' with other priests, not to mention people I am ministering to.

-Drinks alcohol. Communion...

-Complains of boredom. I hate it when I have nothing to do.

-Sleeps too excessively or too little. Who has time to sleep?

-Is excessively awake during the night. Again, who has time to sleep?

-Spends large amounts of time alone. Prayer, study, etc.

-Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your chid may speak to evil sprits through meditation.) Again--prayer, study, etc.--- and it's not evil spirits I'm praying to!!

-Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult. Confessional... ministry..... counseling...

-Eats excessively or too little. Either I'm so busy I don't have time to eat, or it's a church dinner and you pig out!!

-Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this. You've GOT to be kidding me on this one!!

-Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.) Gotta watch my CSI!!


-Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer. Well, I'm on CF aren't I?!?!?

-Expresses an interest in sex. What normal person isn't interested?

If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately.

Well, by my count that's about 15 things on the checklist... so I guess I must be a Goth Satanist...

I wonder what my bishop will do when he finds out?

I had heard that Rick. Pretty sad.
Well...it just goes to show, one cannot judge a book by it's cover.
In today's world, it's better to keep to the middle of the highway. Some books I've read are so far out they are on aother planet. But still, spiritual warfare does exist and we cannot deny that; don't think we have too much to worry about with the Goths.
After all, they originally conquered ancient Rome I believe.
