Is there objectively bad music?

I never said that metal doesn't require any talent. I'd be stupid to say that it doesn't.

I know it was all only comparative. I hope I did not actually offend anyone. Nothing I said was meant to offend anyone. If I did offend someone, I am sincerely sorry and I ask you to accept my apology.

You may think I am just picking on rap fans, however I was a rap fan. I used to love the stuff and would listen to any type of rap. This was until I saw how dumb it is.

Rap is still music though. There's not really a set standard on what the definition of music is, however. It means different things to different people. Tapping on a glass window to make a rhythym could even be considered music. It's so subjective.

And maybe you never really heard the best of rap. Yeah some of it is dumb, but there's good and bad in all genres. There's good and bad rap, good and bad metal, good and bad rock, good and bad country, etc etc..

Some music might be technically bad, but, I mean, that's not saying much. You can argue until you're blue in the face over what might make music technically terrible, but someone is gowing to disagree with you on the technical details of music (for example, sampling the music of others might be bad, or it might be "creatively using existing resources").

Now, whether some music is morally bad is a different argument entirely. I would say some of it definitely is, especially when it glorifies casual sex or a distorted world view.
