I went to the muesem of natural history in N.Y.C. a couple weeks ago and saw a interesting film in the plantitarum. It presented the possiblity of there being life elsewhere. After all each star is like a sun and each one seems to have planets around them. The more research is done the more is found. Could there be life out there? I don't think the idea would be in conflict with the Bible. However unlikely or likey there is still a chance that we are not alone.

This is what I think on this:

I do not believe in life on other planets. However, I believe that there is truth to claims of stange happenings in crop-circles and such.

(Speculation) this is just a planting of a seed of the devil for lies to be spread in the final days (the Tribulation) to keep men from turing to God.

This is a question for the scientists to work out and as yet no one knows. Theologicaly speaking I don't think it makes any odds. The Bible claims it all as a creation of God. Even the galaxies that the Hubble telescope has observed to be an estimated 10 Billion Light years away or about 6 with 10 billion and 12 0's after it miles away

We are not alone for there are references to spiritual beings in the Bible. Angels and demons are near enough alien life forms that a few material, if remote ones, are not going to be any harder to come to terms with.

This science site answers questions from sciences point of view, and life in the universe apears to be rare, indeed. It looks like God is awsesome enough to makes the entire universe for Himself and His family of people that are being revealed right now while evil exists. Evil is the catalyst, the contrast, by which the Son's of God shine out and are revealed to the glory of God.

I would not base to much of you practice or theology on that statement because science has the habit of discovering thingss that make unsubstanciated statements or conjecture redundent. What would happen if life is discovered on another planet? O E.T. was a true life account of Spileburg' childhood ???

John I wouldn't say it hardly affects us. Some people who are convinced they have been abducted by aliens, and experimented on, are scarred for life. On the discovery channel I watched this show called unexplained mysteries. this one lady said she has to take sleeping pills, cries herself to sleep, and is in therapy because she is convinced she was abducted. She said she had things drilled into her belly button, her eyeball pulled out of its socket and other weird things. So I doubt you can say if there are aliens and they are abducting people, that it hardly affects us.

But i still don't believe they exist.

Exactly. You have to wonder. Sometimes I think they do sometimes I think they don't. Let's look at the facts and find out.

1. The first UFO sighting that was reported was in 1200 AD
2. In 1975, a farmer in Switzerland sighted a flying saucer. Over the years he said he was visited by its three passengers, Somjasc, Ptaah, and Asket. They told him they were from the planet Erra about 400 Light years away.

3. In 1985, writer whitley Strieber claimed he had been abducted by aliens, who gave him a throrough physical examination. He was so disturbed he sought the help of a hypnotist who found out he was convinced he had been visited since Childhood.

This type of stuff makes you wonder doesn't it. Are the people dillusional, or dead serious.

There's a lot more of these stories.

1. In 1984 a spacecraft was said to have landed in new Mexico, United States. Eye Witnesses claimed that 14 aliens were discovered on board, who were 3 feet tall with green webbed feet.

2. These aliens were taken to Roswell and apparently Shipped to Area 51, which by Satellite photos has been found to exist, although the American government says it does not.

Hi there!

The Word of God doesn't really tell us that there is life elsewhere, and therefore, it's never been a concern to me.... some may feel that the "other sheep" statement of Christ refers to other people on other planets, but I think Christ came to this earth for this planet, and not for "other sheep" from another planet. Some refer to the "chariots of fire" as spaceships, but again, I believe this world was created by God for the people created by God, and not for visits from "others."

I personally don't believe that "alien abductions" are actually "alien abductions"... nor do I view the "alien abduction revelations" to be from God.

My mom has a friend who has a wonderful, textbook-perfect, alien abduction story. He was riding his bicycle, when a strange thing with flashing lights came up behind him, hovering silently. He doesn't know what happened next, but he was in a bright room, with strange big-eyed creatures standing over him... Then he was on his bicycle again.

One small detail: He knows it was his support crew. He was doing a very long-distance ride, and he was fainting. They told him about the experience, everything checks out... But the memories he has are weird enough to be confusing.

The chances of no other life in the universe has been calculated to be so close to zero, you may as well call it impossible.
According to the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Universe The population of the universe is zero. There being an infinite amount of space and only a finite population; any number divided by infinity is so close to being zero that it makes no odds!

I honestly do not believe that aliens would come to this planet, and pick people up randomly, then drop them off again. If these Aliens are so technologically advanced, why on earth (or not, as the case may be...) can't they block those memories completely? I think its just people who may have problems in thier lives or whatever, and thier mind plays tricks... Maybe I'm worng, but I just dont undertsand why they couldnt monitor people after a few looks, instead of loads, nearly all created by American hillbilly's (no offence intended) :)

First, a nitpick. Most stars do not have planets around them. It's only in the past few years that we have found definite evidence of ANY planets outside of our solar system. There are many different types of stars but only a few that would be able to sustain life. Of those, even fewer have planets. I believe the estimate is that there are *possibly* around 25 million planets in our galaxy which *could* support life. That's still alot of planets and given how long they have all been around, it is very possible that some of them could have developed life... some of it may be much more primitive than we, but others may be more advanced. The fact is that until we find definitive proof of other life, we really can't know. And that is a question for science--the Bible does not speak to this because it is the story of OUR relationship to God, not anyone else's.

I think a lot of the ideas in this thread come from too many classic sci-fi stories and urban myths, not from any real basis. ;)

I will have to say no. God made the universe for us. Crop cirlces, strange happenings? Not even my government has any real records: All pranks, natural events, etc. It's all just modern day story telling. As false gods were long ago, aliens are the equivalent today. It is almost becoming a substitute for religion to some :(
