Nope, same person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_O

"In the late 1990s Eva became a Christian, she now releases solo albums with the Christian record label MCM Music and works with her band Mz O and Her Guns."

Granted, I'd take stuff from Wikipedia (especially with how some of the article is worded which addresses the issue) with a grain of salt, but there was indeed a change there. Some of that newer work does pop up from time to time on ChristianIndustrial.net's streaming radio station.

The closest that I could recommend would be As Ember. They have a very Goth-Industrial sound to them, but contain pretty prominent elements of Symphonic Metal also. Voxis might also be another one to check out, although they're more straight-forward Industrial (the song on Flaming Fish's webplayer, "Glamour Is A Calculated Risk", reminds me a little of Ministry - at least the huge guitar/drum machine sections scattered throughout the song do). Incidently, CI.net does play some Evanescence stuff from Origin on occasion.

Eva O WAS in Christian Death and she WAS a practising occultiost.

She had a crisis of faith which resulted in the album 'Ride the Madness'

HOWEVER.....and bear in mind this is me saying this...something happened to derail her...badly.

VERY badly.

Having just read her site I think I may just contact Eric.

I think your best bet would be the band Seraphim, i've only just recently learned about this band and i think it's rather close to Epica. They are not very open about their beliefs, but there are pretty strong hints on their website (click Biography, then scroll down to where it says "Seraphim" in bold letters. also check the bio of some of the members).

Other options, though musically more removed from the bands you've mentioned, are:
- Illuminandi
- Luminaria
- Fountain of Tears
- As Ember
- Gretchen
- Nova Child
- Virgin Black
- Lacrimosa
I hope this helps somewhat.

P.S. I can't post URL's yet, but you can find all of the bands above on my website.

I too worry about Eva.
However, i have no idea wether she is really sliding down or not because in her "evil" pictures, she is still wearing her Orthodox cross and i find it hard to imagine that she would still wear a symbol of the Christian faith if she really has returned to her past ways.
Yet again, in the news section on her site, she says a couple of things that would seem confirm our worries.

So for as far as i'm concerned, "Evil O" could be an act, and at the same time, it's possible that it isn't. I simply don't know.
I wish i knew...

BALAAM! :)

It is so good to see you here. I have not seen you online since the old flammingfish forums.

How are you?

Eva has had an awful lot to deal with that is for sure. Rozz committed suicide and that kind of pile drives a person sideways.

I guess like me she is horribly disillusioned with the church.
If Eric was in better health he may be able to answer as Eva still links to SM on her pages. I would NOT expect her to do so if she had 'gone back' with all her heart.

Images do not bother me, its the pain in her that I do not think the church can hear . The church has never been good at pain unlike Christ who bore pain.
I wish the church was more like Christ.:sigh:

Hope to see you around a tad more if you are able.

Gods peace to you old friend.

Another band that is pretty close to what you are looking for is HB (stands for Holy Bible). Their earlier stuff wasn't really symphonic metal, but their latest album is definitely Nightwish influenced. Unfortunately their lyrics are only in Finish, but I've heard they plan on re-recording the new one in English as well.

The first two songs on their MySpace page are from their newest (more symphonic) album. http://www.myspace.com/hbennemusic

BalaamsMiracle, I agree, Seraphim is a very good band. I didn't know they were Christians even though I heard that one of them might be.

Part of the problem with the ambiguity in their lyrics might stem from the fact that they are native Chinese speakers (they are from Taiwan). I would figure that something might be loss in the translation.

Good list of bands you had there btw.

Ermm... I'm feeling a bit ashamed right now, because you remember me, but i can't for the life of me remember who you are.

Eva has had an awful lot to deal with that is for sure. Rozz committed suicide and that kind of pile drives a person sideways.

Rozz Williams died over 9 years ago (April 1, 1998). I think that's a long time between his death and Eva's current "fase" (for lack of a better word).
I'm not saying that it doesn't affect her, of course it does. She loved him very much. But i can not imagine that this is her main reason for abandoning Christianity, assuming that she did so at all because life experiences have taught me that not everything is what it seems.

Images do not bother me, its the pain in her that I do not think the church can hear . The church has never been good at pain unlike Christ who bore pain.
I wish the church was more like Christ.:sigh:

You and me both...
Eva is (or used to be?) a member of the Eastern Orthodox church, i have no idea how that church handles personal problems of its members.

About churches in general: a church to me is just a building, what counts is the people inside and inside the people.

Hope to see you around a tad more if you are able.

I do not have a lot of time, but if i can, i will be here, amongst other places. :)
