Is there anything wrong with piercings?

Some plugs actually look like chunky studs; it's not until you look at the backing that you see sometimes that they are plugs rather than traditional ear studs.
Could traditional ear studs be a better option so the hole closes after plug/stud is removed?

the extreme some have gone with piercings and even tattoos is not healthy
PS: Extremes are not healthy, certainly; although some Christians manage to get a limited amount of tasteful ink in faith designs and it is often used as a witness tool; my wife and I talked to a young lady with the wording of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also.

Some ppl do find it hard to stop, once they start on piercings and/or tattoos, though.

It is important to understand that the skin is the largest organ of the body. Anything it comes in contact with can enter the bloodstream and cause serious side effects.

Good thing to remember. Inks have of course improved a great deal; and when it comes to practices such as studding earlobes, etc., it's done usually with no ill effect very widely.

Good thing I didn't get piercings, because I find tattoos way more better looking. Why didn't I think about them ?

If I were you, by the sound of your comment, I wouldn't rush into anything because if you have just overlooked something , maybe there is something else that you might later regret that you have also overlooked...

On the other hand, an earring can soon be removed; and reinserted, as desired, once the hole has healed.

I'm thinking of a cross in the middle of my chest and 1-2 Bible verses on its sides. A half-sleeve eagle tattoo would be nice, but it's in a more visible place and not as important for me.

But yes, I should probably wait at least one year after a tattoo idea and get only if I still like it a lot (minor changes are allowed). Let's see what happens:)

@Heart2Soul Do you like these at all, or similar?
No, those aren't earrings...lol...they are hideous and cannot be reversed. and if you take them out it looks even more hideous with that big hole which becomes a big blob of sagging skin since the cartilage is no longer there.

Actually some of the plugs that are worn are on the surface indistinguishable from the chunky earrings that a lot of older women used to wear, typically. It's only when one sees the backing that one sees the difference between the chunky studs and the plugs.

(But I guess it's a matter of personal taste...)

@Heart2Soul For parents really it's simply sensible to be a bit proactive about adolescents' ear piercing plans, and make sure they know how to do it cleanly and safely. Boys as well as girls. I think so, anyway. They can always take them out later once they have healed.

The bible tells us to do everything in moderation...the extreme some have gone with piercings and even tattoos is not healthy and furthermore suggests and addiction to it. ..This is not wisdom...what ever you decide to do pray about it and seek God's Wisdom on the matter.
Many/most families do go in for a moderate amount of piercing. (Maybe your family also.)

I don't find it problematic.

I didn't start this thread, but I do agree that getting some moderate piercing is a fairly natural and benign development.
